Shayne and I had said goodbye to my family early in the morning, as we wanted to beat the traffic on the way back to L.A, however, as we were going home Shayne diverted down a street with beautiful houses lining either side of the concrete road.

"I think you missed our turn, babe," I commented, stroking Jango.

Shayne grinned and remained silent, leaving me perplexed. I peered out of the window and examined the masterclass in architecture. These houses were ones I had always dreamed of living in, back when I was growing up, and Olivia and I would talk about our future weddings and whatnot, as well as our lives afterwards. Her dream life was simple, and she was easily satisfied. I, on the other hand, had always wanted to live near my parents, with Los Angeles in the vicinity, meaning Thousand Oaks, my childhood home, was the perfect location.

Shayne and I had discussed the prospect of living here once or twice, and the conversation always concluded the same way: we'd both love to live here, but it's too expensive.

Shayne pulled up on the curb, and No. 22 was closest. Its beautiful front lawn was freshly mown, and the plants and shrubbery were extremely well maintained. An elegant cobbled path led up towards the front door, which was an enticing blend of brown and black.

"What are we doing here?" I inquired, unable to control my excitement.

Shayne smiled and brushed my cheek with his thumb, but he still wouldn't speak. I frowned, confused, and he stepped out and walked round, before opening my door too.

"S-Shayne, is... is this..." I blushed and stuttered, remembering his gift.

He smirked and took Jango off of my lap, before helping me out of the car. I grasped his hand more firmly than ever, prior to walking up the cobbled path with him. Jango followed close behind.

"T-This can't be..." I stammered, holding back tears.

Shayne pecked my lips, and as he did I felt him place an object in my hand. After he pulled away, I looked down, and my hopes were sealed. That key he got me sat in my palm, glistening in the wintry sunlight.

"Merry Christmas, baby," Shayne said, as quiet as the wind.

My eyes met his, and I could do nothing but cry. Shayne pulled me into his protective embrace, and I sobbed into his jacket.

"Shh, shh, it's alright babe."

I sobbed ugly tears without a care in the world, before throwing myself into Shayne again and kissing him as hard as possible.

"T-This is too m-much, you s-shouldn't have..." I spluttered.

Shayne smiled, "Our future is too much? Baby, our future is everything to me, and if this house will give us the future we want, I think it's just about enough."

I kissed Shayne again, putting everything I had into it to show him how much I loved him.

"C-Can we go in?" I asked, shuddering with tears of joy and gratitude.

Shayne brushed my chin with his thumb, "Courtney, we can do whatever we want. It's ours."
