Holy shit. This was it. This was our day. The day of Shourtney. The day symbolising our eternal union. The day commemorating my love for Shayne, as well as his love for me.

Kari and Olivia were attempting to calm me down practically all morning whilst simultaneously helping me apply my makeup, but I kept bursting into joyous tears. No one other than Shayne understood how important this day was to me.

Honestly though, I didn't care about the fancy dress anymore, or even the perfect location. As long as Shayne was there, my wedding day was already going to be perfect.

Damien, Noah, Keith, Ian, Anthony and myself all arrived at the beach around three hours before the beginning of the ceremony, just to make sure everything was prepped and ready. Gentle, white cresting waves lapped onto the shoreline, transporting sediment along the length of the coast. Decorative ornaments littered the confined space, with a couple dozen chairs present. The seating arrangement was symmetrical and parallel to the tidy stage closest to the ocean, with a wide, white carpet stretching though the aisles, concealing many metres of sand beneath and forming a path towards the forefront of the scene.

"This all looks so goddamn beautiful, Shayne," Ian exclaimed.

I smiled, "Courtney has an eye for beauty."

"She arranged all of this?" Noah quizzed, carrying a chair towards its place.

I nodded as I fixed up Damien's tie, "We did it together."

Damien thanked me as I backed away, and he proceeded to help Noah arrange the seats. In my peripheral vision, I spotted Keith struggling to drag some extra seats across the smooth sand, and so I approached him in an attempt to help, however, I was met with fierce resistance, as he claimed he was 'a grown up' and 'he could manage on his own.' I loved Keith for his pettiness.

After leaving him to it, I brushed down my tuxedo and stared out into the never-ending blue stretch of water, embracing the horizon in a warm union, symbolic of my imminent marriage to the love of my life.

My four groomsmen; Noah, Keith, Ian and Anthony, would be walking down the aisle with Courtney's four bridesmaids; Boze, Mari, Sarah and Jessica. Olivia and Kari would be walking together when they arrived with Courtney, just before my perfect bride and her dad, and then Damien would be present on stage with me before the ceremony. It wasn't a traditional way of doing things at a wedding, but it would certainly be special.

I felt a hand on my shoulder, breaking me away from my contemplative trance. My vision shifted from the ocean to a familiar pair of brown eyes, and Damien's comforting smile greeted me.

"You ready, man?"

With a smirk, I replied, "Hell yeah."

Damien chuckled and tucked the box containing Courtney's wedding ring into his jacket pocket, "I'm so happy for you man. You and Courtney belong together. Everyone can clearly see it."

I patted his shoulder, "Thanks Damien."

He nodded courteously before continuing, "I just wanted to say thank you for being such a good friend. I'm honoured to be your best man."

"There's a reason I picked you, Damien. You've been the steady rock in my life that's anchored me to reality, keeping me grounded since the first day I met you. I love you man, and I'm so happy that you're here with me today as my best man. I couldn't imagine anyone else in your place."
