Courtney was now six months pregnant, and whilst I loved the fact that we were soon-to-be parents, I realised my wife was getting a little sick of everyone constantly asking about what it was like and so on.

We'd unanimously decided to not get told the gender of our little baby, adding to the surprise and pure thrill of the entire situation, plus, it gave Courtney time to choose between various names, some of which I adored, and others we'll forget about for now. However, people spoiled the moment by bugging Courtney over and over again.

Therefore, I decided we should celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary away from everyone else, just the two of us. We deserved the space, and frankly, Courtney deserved the world. She claimed she already had everything she wanted in the form of me, and this of course enveloped me in bliss and ecstasy, however, I knew I could expand the boundaries of her joy to an even further extent.

We woke up on the morning of our anniversary the same way we had been doing for the past 184 days or so, with Courtney bent over the toilet bowl and me massaging her back. I didn't mind though, as I've previously explained. Moments like those reduced my constant lack of self-worth and recognition. I felt useful.

Omelettes were for breakfast, one of the only things that Courtney could eat at the moment, and she thanked me with a sloppy kiss and yet more tears, followed by cackling as she proceeded to burp in my face and blame it on the baby. My laughter matched hers, before we simultaneously uploaded our celebratory Instagram posts, marking an entire year since the best day of my life thus far.

"What are you doing?" Courtney half-groaned, half-giggled as I scooped her up bridal style and carried her up the stairs.

"Taking you to the bedroom," I replied bluntly, unable to wipe the smile from my lipstick-stained mouth.

"Oh, you in the mood baby?" Courtney slurred, winking and allowing her fingers to dance on my neck.

With a chuckle, I responded, "Always, but I actually wanna take you somewhere."

"Ooh, an anniversary surprise, hmm?"

A curt nod followed, and Courtney kissed my cheek and followed it up with another burp, before commenting on my strength due to the fact that I could lift a pregnant woman up the stairs without breaking a sweat. My cheeks reddened and my wife slapped me playfully, before kissing me again.

The two of us showered, before picking some fairly casual attire and making our way to the car downstairs. Courtney persistently questioned me as to where exactly I was taking her, but I remained adamant in my defence, ensuring she'd be surprised.

Eventually the two of us pulled up at the destination, and it was illuminated by candles, accompanied by various colourations of flower petals. The candlelit path was located by our wedding venue, just a few hundred metres inland, surrounded by shrubs and bushes. The view of the sea seemed to stretch on for what seemed like forever, and Courtney's eyes glistened with tears as I guided her to a couple of beanbag chairs placed on the warm, rocky surface. Between our seats laid a tiny little picnic, and my wife's laughter could soon be heard, accompanied by the delicate placement of her hand upon my shoulder.

"Happy one year anniversary, baby," I whispered.

Courtney grinned, "Happy one year, babe."

And with that, our romantic evening began.

A/N: So sorry for the poor quality of the chapter, just really wanted to post again.
I have some ideas lined up that I'm very passionate about for the future, so thank you all for your loyalty to my works. ❤️
