Convincing Shayne to invite his parents to the wedding was a challenge to say the least. He had never truly forgiven them for making him go to New York, and truth be told, neither had I. However, we had to be the bigger people. Their son was getting married, they deserved to see it.

We decided to visit them on a Saturday, letting Kari sit with Jango, who was still thrilled by the fact that she was one of my maids of honour.

Nevertheless, Shayne and I made it to his parents house in downtown L.A. at about 11:00am that day. We walked up the driveway hand in hand, and to say I was nervous was an understatement.

"You ready for this?" Shayne asked with a deep sigh.

*Shayne*

Seeing my parents again was always going to be difficult. I had never forgiven them for what they did to me and Courtney, and honestly, I never wanted to. They hadn't even apologised, and the minimal contact I had with them since returning to L.A. involved them congratulating me on getting a job at Smosh, and not much else really.

As Courtney and I walked up their driveway together, hand in hand, my palms began to sweat. Courtney squeezed my hand reassuringly, and I grinned at how mature she was. I had broken her heart because of my parents, but she was willing to invite them to the most special day of our lives. Frankly, I didn't think they deserved it.

We knocked on the door a few times, preparing ourselves.

"You ready for this?" I asked Courtney.

She briefly nodded in return. I smiled. She looked cute when she did that. Moments later, the front door was opened.

"Hello Shayne," my father said curtly.

"Mom, Dad. May we come in?"

They stepped aside and guided us to the living room, before sitting opposite us, anticipating what we had to say. However, my dad was an analytical man, and he spotted the engagement ring on Courtney's finger before we could say anything.

"What's that?"

Courtney and I smiled, before I simply said, "We're getting married."

Courtney giggled and opened her mouth to add to my brief statement, perhaps referring to the proposal, but my father quickly interjected, "Excuse me. You're getting married?"

We nodded once more, and they awkwardly shifted in their seats, obviously opposed to the idea.

"We came to invite you to the wedding, Mr and Mrs Topp," Courtney said politely.

My parents sighed, before my mom said, "That's thoughtful of you, Courtney."

However, my dad then quickly butted in, "But you've wasted your time coming here. We shall not be attending."

I sighed and stood up, expecting nothing more from them, "Come on Courtney, let's go. I told you they aren't worth it."

Courtney sighed, but she remained in the living room, facing my parents, "The least you can do is attend your son's wedding!"

Her voice was laced with an unfamiliar venom, making me grin, and she continued, "Shayne has been the best boyfriend and fiancé I could have ever asked for, and for that you should be proud. I love your son so very much, and you crushed both of our hearts when you forced him to break up with me all those years ago!"

"Don't raise your voice at us!" my dad bellowed, ignoring Courtney's truthful accusations.

Courtney gritted her teeth, "The least you could do is apologise to Shayne."

My parents sighed deeply but remained silent.

"I see how it is. The invitation is still there, but don't expect any special treatment just because you're the mother and father of the groom," Courtney finished coldly, making my grin even wider.

With that, my fiancé and I left hand in hand after placing down our wedding invitation with all the necessary contact details on the table, leaving my parents speechless, and honestly, it felt really good.
