*Courtney*
An entire six months later, things were starting to get a little... difficult. It broke my heart to just say it but Shayne and I had been arguing quite a bit lately. I guess that's what about fourteen hours of sleep per week does to you.
His schedule with both Smosh and The Goldbergs was leaving him with less and less free time, due to the fact that his character on the SitCom, Matt Bradley, had recently been incorporated into a more intensive role. I was so indescribably happy for him, but at the same time I wanted him to be with me and Skylar 24/7, and putting Skylar to bed by myself some nights was the worst feeling. I loved my little girl, but I loved my husband too, and when we were all together I loved my life.
Shayne always apologised, but he made sure to reinforce the fact that working on The Goldbergs was such a big step for his career, and henceforth our lives.
"Courtney, look, I can't have this argument again!" Shayne exclaimed, searching frantically for his car keys.
"When can you have it then!? You're always too busy nowadays!" I rebuked, cradling Skylar close to me, before setting her down in her crib.
"Courtney," his voice dropped a decibel or two, slightly lowering the high-stress levels in the room, "I'm doing this for you, for us. This job could boost my career so much!"
I remained silent, not breaking eye contact with my husband.
He continued, "I'm sorry, I know I'm not here all the time anymore, and I'm at Smosh three days a week rather than four, but I honestly think this is the right thing to do, I-"
"Well I don't!" I snapped suddenly.
"You don't?" Shayne repeated, bluntly.
Shaking my head, I warbled, "I miss having you around all the time, and I love you so so much baby, but I want one-hundred percent from you, for me and for Skylar. Right now I'm getting closer to fifty, and it's killing me. I know it's your dream, and you're doing so well, but I don't know if it's working anymore. We have a little girl, Shayne, and I need you with me."
Shayne sighed deeply, not allowing the stubborn tear present in the corner of his eye to trickle down his cheek, however, it was of no use, as his cheeks began to dampen.
"I can give you one-hundred percent Court, I will, I swear, but to do that properly I have to do what I believe is best for us in the long term," Shayne muttered.
I refused to sob in front of him, that'd only make him feel bad, and he didn't deserve that. Not one bit.
"This job gives us far more stability than Smosh alone. I mean, look what happened when Defy shut down. We were both gonna be unemployed, please understand that everything I do is for you and Skylar, please baby," Shayne begged, clenching my hands with a warming urgency.
I nodded slightly, not noticing the stray, globular tears trickling down my cheeks.
"I love you," my husband stated sincerely.
"I love you too," I returned, kissing him gently.
