CH 47 - Families

Sing POV

"That's not possible."

"I didn't make a mistake." Nami looks worried. "I smelt Esper."

I lean my head back, more trouble. If Esper was involved, hunters were involved. Why couldn't things be simple?

"There are only two families in every country trusted with the secret." Dad looks at us. "Vampires can never know."

"These did." She's adamant. "And it wasn't in passing, they had knowledge dad. Vampires can't get into the hospital without them knowing, they walked in like humans."

Esper was a tree oil the hunters discovered a long time ago; it was used in simple tasks until we found its hidden properties. It concealed smells, masked hunters silver and weapons when they went to stop rogues vampires.

"What do you mean knowledge?" I ask.

"They bathed in the oil."

"Shit." Jay looks pissed. "Shit."

That was an old trick, vampires had a great sense of smell, they could find someone who followed them or escaped. Killing them and their families, so the oil was used to mask our smell when we went hunting, to make sure someone didn't follow us back.

"We have to tell P'Yo..."

"That's a guarded secret Nami."

"P'Yo is family now." She crosses her arms. "And there is something still ...off about when they took P'Pha. P'Din and P'Lee are worried."

"Who?"

"Head of security."

She had so many new people in her life since she came home, it made me proud to see what she could do but lonely as well. She didn't need me anymore.

"I think we're going to have to call dad." Father looks scared.

"Who's going to tell him about Pha?" Jay asks.

Everyone looks at Nami who looks up from her phone at the silence.

"Ohhh nooo." She glares. "You're not going to use me as a sacrificial goat."

"Lamb..."

"You can tell him."

"But he likes you better." Father smiles.

"I know but you're still telling him."

She looks at her phone again, frowning seeing whatever she was looking at. I lean over, I think she's checking Beam's phone, I wonder if he knew she still had access.

"I have to work; my ride is here." She stands. "Let me know when I can tell them, I think the sooner the better."

"I know she wants to stay here, but I can't leave her alone." Dad runs his hand over his face after she's gone.

"Maybe if someone...stayed with her..." Jay looks at me.

"Yes..." Father agrees.

"I wasn't going to leave her here on her own anyway." I tell them. "I'm worried too."

They both sigh relived.

"I need Nami's help with a small...matter."

Father and Jay run to the window looking to the skies.

"It's not raining hell fire..."

I ignore them, I had to keep an eye on her and Pha, why did everything have to get complicated? I blame Nami for coming to Thailand!
