CH 5 - Bond

Why did I think this was a good idea again? He's just arrived but I want to throw Ming out of the nearest window when he doesn't stop laughing. Forth, on the other hand, is calm, standing with his arms crossed, his hip resting on the edge of the table.

It was halfway through the first month, Pha was settling well and I had managed to tire him out enough so he wouldn't miss me while I came to talk to them.

"Didn't you come to the human side to fix a problem for your father?" Forth asks.

"Yes, but unexpected things happened."

"Instead, you met someone and turned them?"

If it was anyone else, they never would never have dared, but it was Ming. In all my years of being alone, he was the first to find a place in my heart while I searched for my Beloved, my best friend. And many years later, Forth managed the same.

"How did you get permission so quickly?" Ming stops laughing when I don't answer.

"Tell me you did get permission?" Forth stands straight.

"I didn't have time... he...did something dangerous so..."

"Wayo, what have you done?" Forth snaps. "There will be consequences."

"Dangerous how Yo?" Ming asks worriedly.

"He jumped... he could have drowned...been ki..."

My hands shake just thinking back, I don't manage to finish.

"It's okay Yo." Ming's voice is soothing. "We're here, we will help you fix it."

When he comes close to me, I move away, he looks hurt.

"Why can't I come near?" He asks me.

"The Mooning..."

"So what?" He looks annoyed. "I can't give you a hug to comfort you? Since when?"

"With a Bond Bite." Forth looks at me. "Why would it..."

"Mate Bite."

I hear them both inhale sharply as the words sink in, and they realise what I've done. There are three ways to turn someone, Bond Bite, Mate Bite or Savage Bite.

I used the Mate Bite for Phana, it was extremely intimate. Vampires took blood from humans or other magical beings but not each other unless you were lovers or for a turning. My blood was giving him more magic then what a regularly turned vampire would have because of my age. In vampires it was considered sacred, you could only ever use it once.

Bond Bite was used to turn someone you cared for into a vampire. They would stay close but wouldn't be as possessive or dangerous. They drank from your wrist once a month for the first few years, and able to surviving on blood from others after. I used this to turn Ming.

"Is it...him?" Ming asks taking a seat.

I told them both long ago about him, the one I waited for.

"Yes, ...he came back."

"I'm guessing your father doesn't know either?"

"No."

"Oh my god." Ming looks panicked. "Please tell me before I have a heart attack."

I explain to them both what happened, how I came here, met Phana again and the reason I turned him so quickly.

"Have you lost your mind?" Forth snaps. "You turned him without approval from the council or your master and now you want to let him stay here?"
