CH 49 - Longing

Airport

An elderly gentleman with silver hair, wearing a long coat, strides through the waiting area, two men following carrying his bags. He stops outside the exit, his waiting grandson who smiles and hurries to greet him.

"Welcome home grandfather."

"Good to see you Sing."

He motions the men to go ahead as he watches his grandson.

"Tell me the worst part."

"Vampires are using Esper."

"Of course." He rubs his tired eyes. "It never rained, it hail stoned fires of hell. Why are your father and brother hiding behind that pillar?"

"Because they are cowards!" Sing answers glaring at the two. "I have a lot to tell you."

"I want to see your grandmother first." He half smiles. "Then we will deal with the rest."

Sing smiles, even though she was no longer with them his grandfather always spoke of his grandmother as though she was just at home, waiting for him.

"I brought her favourite flowers for you to take."

"Thank you." He pats Sings shoulder heading for the hiding pair. "Don't tell anyone I'm back, I want to surprise Nami for her birthday."

Forth POV

He never walked into trouble, he leaped in without even looking. Security called me when the three entered the building, it didn't take the manager and I long to get here. When Beam took Bas from that dead man walking, I was only a few steps behind him but Beam didn't notice.

"You never change Beam." The manager smiles. "You're a doctor now, don't get into more fights."

Beam smiles looking confused as he watches the manager finish talking to Lam and Bee before leaving. I need to have words with the manager, I liked the guy but if he had any designs on what belonged to me I would need to do something.

"Does he know me?" Beam asks me before hurrying away when his phone beeps.

I sigh watching him, shouldn't I be asking him that? Why did he have to smile so sweetly to others?

I reassure Lam and Bee, they didn't expect them to take Bas and it frightened them. I watch them holding their son and a deep ache starts in my chest, when I can't bear it I head out of the room to talk to Din. I didn't want anything to happen to them, no one was allowed near them again.

I sigh when I see where I am going, I was ready to leave but my feet moved on their own, taking me to him. I walk to his office but when I see him look around I hide, what are you up to Beam? Going to cause trouble... He happily takes a chocolate out of the box and eats it, then looks around again before smelling the flowers and sighing happily.

I want him. I only came to help Yo, never expecting anything nor wanting anything but now...I want him. I want to take him with me when I go back to the hidden city. I want to take him even if he says no. Even if he hates me...just the thought starts a deep ache in my chest.

Now I understand why Wayo was so scared. Why he wanted Pha happy and let him stay. I want him happy. I want him to fight with me, surrender to me and I'm starting to want his love. What right do I, a monster, have to want it?

"I didn't mean to cause you pain when I asked you to come."

"I came because I wanted to." I tell Wayo as he stands next to me. "Maybe...I stayed too long."
