danny and roy walked slowly, hands interlaced with their dogs a few steps ahead. the woods sheltered them from the sun but it was still warm, dannys flannel which usually rested on his shoulders was tied around his waist.

"i like this," roy sighed.

"me too,"

the sun was beginning to set now, they had been walking for almost two hours and had completely lost track of time.

"come on, lets find our way out before it gets dark," roy said. he was the sensible one, even though danny pouted and complained about wanting to stay longer he still some how convinced him to set off home.

they were walking for what seemed like hours, passing the same trees and going in circles.

"roy?"

"yes baby?"

"are we lost?"

roy paused. he never liked to admit he was wrong, and he also didn't want to panic danny.

"nah we'll be out soon. don't worry!" he squeezed danny's hand reassuringly as they both went on the search to find the exit.

it began to get dangerously dark, and roy was in a hurry to get out of the woods. he didn't want anything happening to danny or the dogs, and he wanted to be out and home before it was too dark to see.

danny turned his phone torch off and gave roy a bright smile. 'at least he's not scared' roy thought.

"hey roy?"

"hmm?"

"isn't that where we came in?"

roy almost shouted out in happiness. he thought they'd be walking round all night, so the sight of an exit was a great thing to see.

they walked out onto the field and danny stopped dead in his tracks. roy spun around, wondering what he'd seen, only to see danny staring at the sky, mouth wide open.

"look at the stars!"

roy looked up, and danny wasn't wrong. it was littered with little white specks, all ranging in brightness and size. danny was transfixed.

"they're so pretty!" he exclaimed.

"not as pretty as you though," roy flirted, and even in the dark he could see the blush growing on danny's face as he mumbled an embarrassed "shut up!".

"come on dan, let's go home."

and with that they walked, danny and dede by their side. their own little family, in a way. and roy wouldn't change it for the world.
