"please roy?" danny looked up at him with big eyes, lip curled into a slight pout that roy just couldn't ignore.
"dan we have sammy and dede already, i really don't think getting another dog would help. i mean what if he dosent get on with them? or dosent like to be home alone? i mean our schedules are packed and-"
"we are great dog owners! and well just have friends come over and look after him and we can get sammy and dede to meet him first so that everything goes smoothly. please roy i promise i'll look after it!" danny looked a bit teary at this point and he knew he had roy wrapped around his finger.
"your rambling hon." roy held a finger to danny's lips playfully. "if you really want one and your sure you can take care of him... i guess we can see."
and soon enough they were on their way to their local shelter as they wanted to give a rescue dog a new chance at life. they pulled up and danny was almost jumping up and down with excitement.
the first dog they saw was the one. they knew it from the moment they locked eyes. he was a little spaniel, gingery brown and white, with the most adorable floppy ears.
"roy he's the one!" danny exclaimed (quietly).
"heh. daniel spaniel," roy thought he was hilarious making that connection, but danny was more preoccupied with the calm puppy on his lap.
after about a month of house checks, dog play dates with sammy and dede, roy stressing about everything being perfect and danny soothing his worries, their dog finally came home.
danny had decided to call him buddy, and he was the most quiet, nonchalant dog they had ever met. he would choose to sleep in danny's lap over a walk any day, and he was fine with being left alone. in fact, he couldn't care less as long as he had a bowl of food and a bed.
buddy had to sleep on the bed, cuddled up next to danny, who layed on roys chest. sammy and dede slept at either side of them.
they loved their little family, and roy always felt completely grateful that they were all there. even though he was wrapped around danny's little finger most of the time, although he would never admit it.
