danny groaned loudly as he sunk into the back of the sofa.

"do we have to?" he whined, looking up at roy with big, hopeful eyes.

"have you seen the state of it?" roy asked. "yes we have to."

they were arguing over going outside to clean the shed: summer was coming and they needed things from it, but couldn't get to anything because of how dirty it was.

"but it's gross in there!"

roy sighed before picking danny up, earning a squeak of embarrassment. he carried him outside, placing him on his feet outside the shed.

"come on. it won't bite you!" roy laughed as he pushed him into it, another squeak left danny's lips. he sighed dejectedly, and began to get to work, moaning and sighing every few minutes.

suddenly, roy saw danny's entire body run past him, yelping slightly and almost falling over.

"dan?"

"mouse." was all he said back.

roy let out a stifled giggle, and walked to the back of the shed to see what had danny so spooked (and maybe even make fun of him a little, but it was all in good taste).

when he got to the place where danny had seen the mouse he peered down the back of some random objects and he let out a scream himself, followed by a string of particularly colourful language.

"that's not a mouse, that's a rat! it's big enough to eat us!" he yelled, grabbing danny's arm.

"so does that mean we get to leave the shed?" danny asked hopefully, only to be met with a no from roy.

"it still needs doing," he passed danny a rake. "here, just poke it slightly with that. then it'll just fly out!"

"no way!"

"why not?"

"it might eat me!"

the argument continued, until danny finally decided to face the rat and poke it. he let out a whimper as he got closer, but nudged the rat very gently. the rat hissed angrily, moving around in the corner of the shed and danny couldn't help cry out. he ran straight into roys arms, slamming the shed door shut.

"okay... maybe we are done out here for the day." roy said anxiously, the rat still scurrying in their shed.

"what do we do about that?"

"we leave it."

"but-"

"we'll figure something out later. for now, we can go back inside."

"thank god, that was traumatising!" danny sighed, and they both practically ran inside, even though he knew roy would do nothing about it, and just forget in a few months.

legend says that the rat is still in that shed today....
