A girl...
I can't believe I'm going to have a baby girl. I couldn't believe it from the moment that the woman told me.
"The baby's development is still pretty slow..." she started, holding her ultrasound gun to my only slightly swollen belly with a smile on her face. "But surprisingly, I can see the female genitals! Your little baby wanted you to know that she was a girl, at least!"
I'm going to have a baby girl! And Tyler, another! Wow! I wonder if he'll be excited...
And Rob... a familiar voice in the back of my mind reminds me once I start to feel the excitement of believing that this is actually Hayden's baby with Tyler. And what about Dane?
"Have you and Tyler been thinking of any names?" Mama G asks, her attitude back to normal ever since the sonographer had interrupted our spat earlier. "What did you two come up with for a little girl?"
Harlee and Harper both start spitting out names, their excitement almost overwhelming as I still try to push thoughts of Dane and Rob from my mind.
"I think you should keep the H theme going!" Harlee laughs in the front seat.
"No- that's so corny! Name her something meaningful to you! Like... Bristol! Isn't that where you were born?" Harper retorts.
Mama G scoffs, turning her head from the road to look at Harper with one brow raised in question.
"Bristol, Harper?" she says flatly, though with a smirk on her face. "That's not even a real name!"
Harlee and Harper both bust out into laughter- Harper commenting on how Harlee's middle name is Hartzel.
"Hey, that’s your grandmother's maiden name!" Mama G defends herself with a laugh. "It's a family name, and will always be cherished!"
Harlee and Harper both falter off in laughter, though Harper turns back to Mama G mid-laugh to raise a brow at her. "And Bristol could kind of be like a family name for Hayden." she states, turning back to face the window before she can catch glimpse of the side eye Mama G had just shot her.
A few moments of tense silence passes before Mama G let's out a small sigh, and brightens her tone. "So, were you thinking anything, Hayden?" she asks.
I've always wanted a little girl- but I'm not going to lie, I always thought my first kid was going to be a boy. I always wanted to name him Aiden Anthony- Anthony after my pop, and Aiden because it’s just... a cute name I've always really loved!
"I'm not really sure," I comment with my mind only half present. I sort through what threatens to be a million thoughts and feelings between this baby, and everything that comes with it. "I thought it'd be a boy, so I've really only considered a boy's name up until now."
Mama G nods her head understandingly. Harper excitedly turns back toward me from the front seat."What was your choice for a boy?" she asks.
I explain Aiden Anthony, causing both Harlee and Harper to coo playfully while Mama G just raises a brow in slight interest.
"I really like the name Aiden!" she says after a second, turning into the parking lot to the warehouse holding the set of a TV show she had booked me to star in for half a season next year. "I think that'd even be cute for a girl, honestly!"
Harlee and Harper fall into a fit of laughter again, though they both cock their heads to the side in contemplation once they let the name settle onto their imagined niece.
"Aiden... Rose Robson!" Harper coos as Mama G parks the car. "Rose is just a pretty middle name- but that part is interchangeable!"
Harlee and Mama G both turn toward her in an instant, their faces showing slight disgust though I'm sure they don't mean for that to be apparent.
