I pass Jenalyn the lit blunt, hoping that this will bring her back. Ever since the warehouse she's just been...quiet. Zoned out, almost.
First time jitters, I say to myself, chalking it up to shock. She did pretty good, I guess. But this? I can't have her like this every time a little business needs to get taken care of.
"You okay?" I ask, moreso to fill the silence her zoned out state has left us in. I know she's okay- and if she's not, she will be. She doesn't say anything though, just slightly nods as she exhales her hit and hands the blunt back to me.
"Can I lay down?" she asks quietly.
I nod my head, scrolling through my phone until I'm finished booking her flight back to California tomorrow. She doesn't know she's leaving- but she needs to.
I can't lose myself the way I need tonight, because of her. That's a threat to me, and my business.
