I'm not expecting Tyler and Gage to be at the Gold's house when we come home from the small interview Harper had taken me to- but I immediately take the oppotunity to scoop Gage up to smoke a blunt out back. Mama Gold is too busy debating with Harlee and Ty about their fakelationship ending over Tyler having a baby with Sophie Ryan, a Hollywood party girl, to notice me.
"You look stressed." Gage says as he finds a seat across from my usual spot hidden behind the stairs.
I let out a small laugh. Stressed doesn't even begin to cover it.
I'm pregnant. Not even just pregnant... I'm almost positive I'm pregnant with Rob's kid. Rob, the secondhand man to either my good pimp or my abusive boyfriend. The same boyfriend that manually terminated my last pregnancy... and that wasn't even with his lowkey bestie. On top of all of that, I'm Hayden- and agreed to keep up that whole ordeal already!
"I'm always stressed," I say with half of mind while the other half storms around my head trying to sort things out. "Thank goodness you guys are here, or I might've hung it up! I'm not used to Mama Gold being home either- so that's a whole other level of stressful."
I try to add light to my anxious demeanor, but Gage still stares at me with concern as he hands me the blunt.
Should I even smoke it?
"Whats up?" he asks after a second. "Stuff with the boyfriend back home?"
Another sarcastic laugh rings through my head. He, once again, doesn't even know the half of it. I've mentioned a boyfriend in Pennsylvania to Gage a few times since we've been hanging out- kind of as a way to safety proof our friendship from going any further. I can tell he's trying to take it further, and well... a small and drunken make out sesh with Tyler after I came back to California the second time has strayed me away from that.
I can't help myself from hitting the blunt. It wont kill it, right? People have done worse! My mother was doing cocaine and heroine when she was pregnant with me... I turned out okay, I think.
"What's going on in there?" I ask after a moment, intentionally steering away from conversation about the 'boyfriend' to save myself the trouble of having to think about how he's going to kill me.
I turn back to the house, the loud voices in debate from inside making its way through the sliding glass door. Gage rolls his eyes and takes the blunt from me with a sigh.
"Just Tyler with all of the relationship and baby mama drama..." he says with a small laugh. "He's single again- ready to mingle. But the Gold's aren't ready to sever that tie between him and the family yet... their platonic friendship or whatever made the breakup a lot more acceptable to the media. Literally the same shit as always."
I let out a small laugh, still finding Tyler's situation with Harlee oddly entertaining considering the fact that I used to admire their relationship. Or what I thought it was, at least.
I hand the blunt back to Gage. "And you're just stuck tagging along- what? Because you're a twin?" I say, flashing him a joking smile though his face remains serious and to the point.
"Nope- I was actually hoping you were in town." He says with a tone in his voice I can't help but try to ignore. He finds this tone with me often- but I'm not on the same page. We're friends. "We're having a party tonight. I really wanted you to show up."
I try to ignore it. I try so hard, for more reasons than I could even fathom to explain. The same voice in my mind that most likely got me knocked up over wanting something I really shouldn't though- my monster likes the idea of a freaking rock star fawning over me.
"What's it for?" I ask after a moment of fighting that voice telling me to not to ignore it.
Gage perks up when I don't immediately decline. I'm sure he knows at this point, that I'm not really one to turn down a party. I don't have access to my normal arsenal of Dane's drugs when I'm out here in California as Hayden, so alcohol has acted as a sort of placeholder.
-and where there are Ty and Gage's parties, there is alcohol.
"Beause it's Friday." he quickly responds, handing the blunt back to me with a new sense of excitement surging through his words. "Want me to pick you up anything specific? Ty's got the place stocked already but-"
I stop listening halfway through, my mind already accepting that I'm probably going to lose the battle with my monster and end up going- if anything, as a goodbye party.
Considering not only how Dane will react to the news, but also how the helI I'm supposed to come up with a cover story on this pregnancy for Hayden?
I better start planning my goodbyes.
I just can't do anything hard, I silently tell myself with such a stern tone that it's almost unfamiliar. Part of me keeps telling myself a little won't hurt though- it's the monster talking, and I know that. I've learned what her voice sounds like as it slithers through my mind.
"I'm good with what ever you guys got." I smile, recognizing her presence.
Hopefully she heard that stern tone, too.
