• Maddi POV •
I had just gotten out of the shower and changed into something that said 'Mature enough to raise a child' which was in my case, a tube skirt with a loose and really light purple shirt that I tucked in. Also I straightened my hair and put on a pair of black one inch heals.
I walked out the room and into the living room so I could leave. "Ew, you look really ugly." Tyler announced. I sighed, "I know." I muttered. She laughed sympathetically. "I probably will be back really late." I told her.
I got in the car and typed in the address that Mrs. Martin had given me six days ago. It took me about ten minutes to get there.
I walked inside the court house and took my seat across from the judge. She mumbled something about me finally deciding to show up. I didn't say anything I just sat up straight and waited to be informed of anything.
"The only thing you have to worry about is gaining the judges affection and your brothers, I did some research on the little wrist biter. He's really-"
"Alright! Time to begin." the judge cut her off. She grabbed a paper that looked like it'd recently been unfolded out and read from it.
"This case, Maddi Greene wants to get her last blood relative back from a yada yada yada, the Sanders family isn't quite ready to give up their son. Blah blah blah, it will be tough on older foster sister. Okay begin." she instructed. I didnt really know what to do, but I stood up and no one looked at me like I was stupid so I assumed I was doing right.
"Yes uh, I spent the last two years a minor and I didnt have my little brother. I really want him back," I stated. "Yeah and I wanna win a million bucks," the judge replied.
Okay, if I were to tell someone about this lady they'd think she was old and fat with glasses, but she was actually the complete opposite. She was beautiful will her black hair pulled back into a high bun and her skin was a really nice tan. She was just so pretty.
"If there's nothing left that you have to say then we should be done here." She spoke. I huffed, "Okay well, ma'am, I'm obviously here for Mason. I am responsible enough to have him as mine." I said. She cocked her eyes at me. "You're eighteen. He is in a stable home now, Maddi. You don't have any home ed from an actual mother because you two were in foster care. Do you even have a job?" She questioned.
"No, but I could find one." I stated ignoring what she said about my home skills and mom. "Without a job that means you don't have a home. Where are you living?" She asked. I let in a long breath. "After you're eighteen years of age they find us a roommate and we live in a small apartment together." I spoke. Not only did I realize how bad that sounded to actually come from my lips, I just sounded like a dependent bitch.
The judge started laughing. "You are a little girl." she told me. Before I could snap at her Mrs. Martin grabbed my arm. "I am very capable of taking care of my little brother. I have been doing so until he got adopted I'm pretty sure I could continue doing that now. I can always move out of there and raise him under a roof of my own. The thing is he's my brother and we should be together." I spoke. Before she could say anything we heard yelling.
"I do not wanna be here." A kid said. The door smacked open and in came my brother. He walked in with a woman and a man and they took a seat down in the back. "I'm guessing that's your little brother?" She asked and I nodded.
"May the Sanders family come up." She spoke again more bored with our case. I watched as they came up and sat at the table across from us.
"It was noted that there was an older daughter?" She stated. The mom nodded, "She couldn't make it, she's out with her friend today." The woman said. "She's kind of important in this." The judge stated. "Not really, he's our son not hers and always has been. And no little girl will take him away from us." She spat the last part glaring at me, in which I scoffed.
I feel as if a matter of minutes I'll be choking this woman. She looked like she was twenty. "I'm eighteen. You look no older." I snapped. "How old are you?"
"I am old enough to have a child and capable of raising it from birth to death." She scoffed. As someone who wasn't the old enough to have a baby, I know you're not supposed to comment on a child's death nor call them an it.
"How old are you ma'am." The judge asked. "Twenty eight." She replied. Let's just name her bitch.
"I honestly don't even understand why we're here, he's our son." She spoke. I stood up from my seat. "He is not your son. His actual parents are not living and he knows that, he's my little brother and he's fourteen and you're fucking twenty eight, he is not your son." I snapped at her. I know it was unnecessary to do that and use profanation, but I couldn't help it.
Mason looked up at me. He gave me a mean look before turning his head back to the front. "Don't speak to my wife that way." the man said. "You shut up you long headed lumix." I warned.
-oh my goodness the memories. Has anyone seen 101 Dalmatians ? The cartoon that's where that's from-
"Ms. Greene take a seat." The judge spoke. I rolled my eyes, but did as told. "She's just as capable as taking care of him as you are, except she's younger and doesn't have as many advantages of yours. Hence, I'm pretty sure you came from a nice family and Maddi didn't really have one." She said. I could tell she wasn't trying to be rude with that statement, but it was way risky and I wouldn't of said it.
"She looks familiar." Mrs. Martin whispered. I ignored her attempt to speak with me and I started speaking myself. "Two years ago we spent almost a year with a family, one of the orphanage workers, and she taught me how to raise myself and be more responsible and, ma'am, I think that's as enough home education that I could get." I said.
A loud bell went off and the judge smiled. "Time is officially up. Mason will go back with the Sanders until next case." She said. "Maddi, if you want to have a word with Mason, you have five minutes. A security will be watching so there will be no form of manipulation." She added then left.
I looked down at Mrs. Martin and she guided her hands to Mason. "Go ahead." She sighed. I stood up and so did he.
"Mason." I said grabbing him. He looked at me confusedly. I ignored it and hugged him tightly. I noticed he wasn't hugging back. "Mason?" I said. I mean, he is my brother. I know he is, but at the moment he wasn't not acting like it.
I pulled away to see that he'd been giving me a death glare. "Who are you?" He asked.
