Everyone in the boardroom applauds when RJ announced the good news. The top officers of FCC including the Chairman Richard Faulkerson, Sr. himself are too proud of Celestine.
“Pwede na akong mag-retire.” Chairman Richard said.
“Wag muna Lolo, mawawalan ako ng shield from Dad.” Celestine answered and everyone in the room laughs at what she said.
“I hope you believe me now, Mr Chairman, isn’t it I told you before that if we want to beat EGCC we should attack them at the portion where we will have an edge and that is design. Each time we prepare out proposal lagi na lang natin priority ang cost, affected tuloy ang designs natin. We have excellent architects in our pool, therefore if we could not beat them sa cost, we will beat them sa designs.” RJ said.
“Sir, most of the inputs in our design are from Celestine. Sometimes I wonder if she took up a few units of architecture.” Luis said.
“I heard about that. I am so proud of you apo.” Richard, Sr. said.
“Thanks po Lolo. And for your information Luis, I never had even a single unit in architecture. I just based my inputs on what I think a regular shopper wants.” Celestine said.
“And I agree with you apo. In my several years in this business, hindi pwedeng ipagwalang bahala ang mga taong gagamit ng mga bahay o building na itinatayo natin. We should consider how comfortable they will be once they step in sa mga building at bahay na ginawa natin.” Richard, Sr. said.
“This will be our biggest project for this year. I am expecting everyone’s cooperation to make this project a success. Celestine will be our point person for this project, you should course through her all concerns and issues.” RJ said.
“And I would like to make an announcement since everyone is here.” Richard, Sr. said.
“I hope you are not announcing about your retirement, Lolo.” Celestine said.
“Not yet, Celestine. But if we continue getting projects likes this I might avail of my early retirement and pass on the chairmanship to your Dad.” Richard, Sr. replied. “Anyway, about the announcement, the board of directors is very happy that this project was awarded to us. And they are giving us another challenge with a very tempting reward this time.” He further said.
“Bring it on, Mr. Chairman, mukhang exciting ang challenge with reward eh.” Isaac said.
“The board challenges us to make a savings from 15 to 25 percent. If you were ablet o achieve it without any hassles and constraints. All the employees involved in this project will have a salary increase depending on the percentage of the savings for this project.” Richard, Sr. said and everyone applaud. “Now all of you get back to work, because I feel that this is the start of a good year for all of us.” The chairman added.
“Is that true, Dad?” Celestine whispered to RJ while they are on their way to the President’s office.
“Yes it is true, Anak. Nagulat din ako kanina when they announced it. So I am counting on you Celestine. Make sure that this project will smoothly run and gain at least 15% savings para naman happy ang lahat ng empleyado natin.” RJ replied.
