No one requested this but I can read minds, and I heard that people wanted a Modern AU.

I know you guys know this, but here's a key:

(e/c) = eye color/colour

(h/c) = hair color/colour

(L/n) = last name

Plus you're in Grade 9, just saying so you know.

"THESE Fright Night posters seem to be everywhere in the school!" Rapunzel, your seventeen-year-old sister said as the two of you were walking down the hallways. Fright Night was their Halloween school dance, there were posters everywhere but the actual dance day wasn't until Halloween and it was currently the 16th.

You sighed, "Yeah."

"What's wrong?"

"I guess it's just that you have Eugene, and you're going to Fright Night, but there's no one that I'd know who'd go with me." You looked at her with your (e/c) eyes, these eyes weren't sad in particular just very emotional and deep.

"There has to be someone else in your class that you can go with," Rapunzel said, thinking about all of the possibilities. "Dates are mandatory for this dance if I could've changed what the student council's consensus way, I would have." You knew that this was a semi-lie, Rapunzel was head of student council, but she never wanted to let anyone down so she wouldn't just choose it without a majority vote.

You looked at your shoes, staring at the laces, wondering if they were untied, wondering if that was why you were uneasy. Of course, they weren't, and of course you were uneasy from the decision that student council had come to. "Just promise me, you'll think about it," Rapunzel said. "I'll always have two tickets waiting for you and whoever you want to bring."

You nodded. Rapunzel smiled and left you alone in the empty space. You decided to walk back to your locker.

That was the last thing you remembered doing before you tried to own the stairs and broke one of the bones in your leg. At the end of the day, you were in the hospital recovering. If there was any chance of you going to fright night, there was less of a chance now. Rapunzel came to you with a couple of things to occupy your time in the hospital. Your favourite book and your writing book, so you could do what you loved most.

During the night you couldn't sleep, you were told that you could get back on it on the twenty-eighth and you immediately got worried because Rapunzel said she was taking you to Fright Night. You opened your writing book and realized that it was one that you hadn't used since you were in Grade 7.

Inside the book was mostly embarrassing things that you wanted to write down on paper because you wanted your future self to remember them and cringe, but something interesting caught your attention. You looked at the paper and you remembered something, more like someone that could help you.

"Raps!" You called her in from the room beside you.

"Be quiet, we don't want the whole hospital to hear you." She said, quickly rushing to your side. "But what do you need?"

"Do you happen to have your phone on you?" You looked at the number on the page, someone had written it on there, you recalled on the last day of grade 8. She gave her phone to you and you quickly dialed the number.

"Who are you calling?" Rapunzel said, a little bit too giddy for a phone call. It was probably because of the message written beside the number.

"Someone, not exactly sure who yet." The phone rang for two rhythmic beats and you were worried that they weren't going to pick up or had changed numbers.
