holiday homework

"WHO assigns homework? It's the holidays!" you said as you looked at the document on your computer that you barely got anything written upon.

"Honestly it's not our teacher's fault that our class can't pay attention for one minute in class to get homework done then," Varian said, as he was typing up a storm. You had invited him to your house for the holidays so you could help each other work on the homework that was assigned over the break.

You opened your book, looking for the part where Romeo gave his final monologue before death. Looking through all of the text you saw something that you could add to your summative review of the book. Typing up a couple more words to your paper you got up from your chair and you went over to see how much Varian had gotten done.

"What? How did you get all of that done?" You asked as you saw that his screen had three paragraphs already. It was a true masterpiece before the small three sentences you had typed up yourself.

"I'm just saying you would have gotten a lot more done if you had actually read the book," Varian said.

You felt ashamed, "I may have skipped over some boring parts, the language in the books is so hard to understand. I just can never comprehend poets."

Varian said, "That reminds me of another strange pick-up line."

"Not again," you said hanging your head in shame.

"Is your father Vincent Van Gogh? Because you're a work of art." Varian said.

"Is that all you do in your spare time? Look up pick up lines?" You asked trying to put some of the shame on him for once.

"Um no, I also actually read our novel study."

"Like I said I read it!" you said.

"If you read it you should be able to tell me what happens in act one, part four," Varian said.

  "Are you quizzing me?"

"Just answer the question. What happens?" he asked you again and you tried to go through the events of the book. You weren't really sure what happened early on because the book didn't really get to anything good until the end.

"Romeo and Juliet meet?" you asked hoping that it would be a lucky guess.

"Romeo and Juliet kiss," he said and you looked at the book instantly trying to find the scene where that happened. You quickly skimmed through all of the words, trying to look for any mention of them kissing.

"Ha! It's not in there," you said triumphantly.

"Because it isn't in there. It's right here," he said and he pressed his lips against yours. You knew that it was going to be a distraction and you knew that you weren't going to finish your schoolwork but you had the whole break. Who cared about holiday homework anyway?
