"MAKAHIKI," Moana explained to the party of four including you. She was talking about what her people do on the island during the time that Corona would normally hold their gift-giving days and other festivities.

"How long does it last?" Rapunzel asked. The princess of Corona wanted to know almost every single detail about the leaders of the world and their celebrations. She had visited Arendelle and you bet that she would visit Atlantica if she could.

"Makahiki lasts around four moon cycles and it a time when all wars are forbidden, but we have been war free for many seasons now," she said. A small pig rubbed against her foot and Moana looked down at the small creature.

"That sounds great. We also use our holiday to celebrate peace." Rapunzel shared with the dark-haired princess of Motonui.

"We celebrate in honour of the god, Lono. We have three different phases of Makahiki," she explained.

You noticed that Varian was scribbling down things at a pace that was faster than the most anxious person writing. Moana was open to any questions so you just decided to comment, "This is all super interesting, tell us more."

"The three phases are spiritual cleansing, celebration, and waʻa ʻauhau." she shared. "During the first phase, we make hoʻokupu, which translates to offerings to the gods. After that, we celebrate by hosting dances and boat races. The third phase is always lovely. We load hoʻokupu into the waʻa ʻauhau, a boat that can be sent to Lono. The wa'a 'auhau is then drifted off into the sea to be delivered to Lono." she said, "And that's pretty much it."

"When is the boat being sent off?" Eugene asked.

"Soon, maybe in a few nights from now. In fact, I have a couple of things that I should be discussing with the community in order to prepare. You guys are free to explore the island." she said, and with that, she left to attend to such duties.

"Well, it looks like you're free to explore," Rapunzel said, mostly taking to you and Varian.

You excitedly went off on your way to explore, it was kind of difficult for Varian to keep up with you. "They kind of look like us," Eugene told Rapunzel. It made Rapunzel smile and the three of them walked out to explore the village.

Going straight to shore, you saw seas that never seemed to end. You loved the feel of the sand on your feet, it was kind of strange to think that everyone on the island grew up with this. "Are you going a little bit crazy?" Varian asked you. He wasn't as excited about the sand and the beating sun.

"It's just so warm here compared to Corona. The sun is always visible, except when it storms of course, and the waves are so close," you said, as you sat down beside him on a lopsided tree.

"Sure, the air is nice and the plants are so different than the ones that grow in Old Corona but don't you miss home?" he asked as he smoothed out the cover of the journal that he was writing in before.

"Of course I miss home, but it would be even worse if I was here and you weren't here with me," you said, but you wanted to change the subject. "What's in the journal?"

"Oh!" he said, opening the book, "It's just some sketches of the flowers and plants here. I want to examine them further here, but we're leaving a couple of days from now."

"We can't really take them with us either," you sighed, "I guess somethings are just meant to remain in one place."

"Yeah, which means that we should try to appreciate the island as long as we're here," he told you and you looked out as the sun began to lower. You could probably sit down and watch as the sun went down, but you wondered if the other three were looking for you.

"We should probably go, just in case they're worried," you commented. You were about to get up with you realized that Varian was getting up. "Varian?"

"The sunset's unlike anything that we have in Corona," he said.

"Yeah, the way that it reflects on the waves and it looks like the sunset comes straight to you. It's magnificent," you said and you returned to your spot on the tree. "Is there anything more beautiful?"

"I'd say snow, but I've been caught in a blizzard before so I don't think that snow is a beautiful anymore. I guess I'd have to say you," he said.

You blinked at him. He hadn't looked at you, but you had looked at him, at that was all of the reaction he needed. The sun went down and the moment was over, but it would always be in your heart, and in his.

Makahiki is a holiday that was celebrated a long time ago with Hawaiian so I thought that it should be showcased in a Moana crossover. I know that they don't appear in the same time in the timeline, but who cares, I can do whatever I want. Author's have free will.
