"IT'S NEW YEARS, and we're going to stay up all night," Varian said, very excited.

"Varian, is that you talking? Or the coffee you just had?" You asked you had just had coffee too but caffeine had no effect on you. You found hyperactive Varian quite adorable and you sat down on the couch finding a good program to turn on.

"What are you turning on?" He asked. You weren't sure yet, you were browsing through a bunch of different channels to see who had the best performers but you would probably watch them all during the night. "Do you want to know what we should watch?"

"Sure. What?" You asked, open to suggestion.

"To All the Boys I've Loved Before." He asked.

"Really?" You asked stunned. "It's New Year's Eve. And you suggest watching a crummy rom-com?" You weren't a fan of rom-coms and honestly, To All the Boys I've Loved Before didn't sound so bad. So you decided to give it a try.

You changed the TV to Netflix and you scrolled through dozens of titles. "You know there's an easier way to find it, right?" He asked you. You passed him the remote silently and he opened the search tab and found it.

"You know sometimes I can be so clueless." You told him.

He smiled, "It's all good." Then he passed the remote back to you for you to press play. The movie started out pretty chill and it introduced the characters, the oldest sister was going to college. You already could tell what was going to be the highlight of the film for you, not the romantic part but the sisterly connection Kitty and Lara Jean had.

"In what world is Noah Centineo cute?" Varian asked when Lara Jean kissed Peter Kavinsky, Noah Centineo's character. You found it funny and laughed.

   "Are you jealous?" You teased.

"No." He said, knowing that he got himself in a lot of trouble if you continued to tease him.

"Noah may be cute," you said in air quotes, "but he will never be as cute as you." You got him to blush and it was even cuter. You weren't even watching the movie really, you just kept making jokes about it in hopes that it would get the other to laugh.

There was one time when you laughed so much with him that you completely forgot what you were laughing about. You completely forgot about New Year's Eve until Varian brought up New Year's wishes. He asked, "What's your wish for the New Year?"

You weren't completely sure so you asked him the question back to hopefully buy off time to come up with an answer. He slyly told you that he would keep his a secret until midnight. You told him that it wasn't fair for you to tell him before midnight happened if he wasn't going to say anything back.

"It can only be one? That's really difficult. To be honest, I can't think of anything." You told him. There wasn't one thing that came to mind when you asked yourself that question.

"It's only ten minutes until midnight now." He said. The movie was just ending and you weren't sure how you felt about the ending. It was kind of confusing.

"That's a horrible ending." You remarked.

"That's 'cause there's a sequel." He told you.

"What? They're going to make a sequel of this. Unbelievable." You told him. You continued on about why you didn't like that everything had to be given a sequel while Varian argued that there were already books.

"Oh, look our argument has brought us to two minutes left until midnight." He told you.

"I'm going to switch the channel then." You said, changing to a network that was currently doing the countdown. You smiled as you saw the one minute mark disappear. Then there were only 59 seconds left. 58. 57. 56.

"Are you going to tell me what your New Year's wish is yet?" You asked him.

"Not yet." He told you and you frustratedly wanted to ask him why not but you let it go and waited for the second to go by. 48. 47. 46.

When the countdown reached the twenty-second mark you began to count along out loud. "Twenty! Nineteen! Eighteen! Seventeen! Sixteen! Fifteen! Fourteen! Thirteen! Twelve! Eleven!" Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One!

"We made it to twenty-twenty!" You exclaimed, only to see that Varian had fallen asleep. You found a blanket near the couch and put it on him. You then found another spot to sleep in the living room and gave yourself your own blanket.

    Happy New Year, Varian.
