into the unknown

AH-AH-AH-AH, a voice called. You woke up from a dream about the rocks again, they were the source of the powers of the moon and the source of the magic that grew Rapunzel's hair back, but you knew that those rocks had a relative kind that had given you your powers. Your powers of ice and snow.

     As the voices called you again you couldn't help, but wonder if the rocks were calling you back to the source of your magic. You didn't want things to change, you were enjoying the days that you had right now.

     You heard the voice again and you knew that you would have to look outside and go back to the rocks of the element spirits, the rocks that combined all of the powers of earth, fire, air, and water. Taking a few steps outside you tried to leave and seek out the truth.

      "(Y/n), where are you going?" Varian asked as you were about to open the door and run out to the rocks. "You've been acting so differently recently and we said that we shouldn't shut each other out."

      You didn't want to tell him that you were going out on a quest to find out the history of your powers because it seemed a little bit absurd to leave what you had now for the uncertain. "Um, I was just going to go to...the library."

      "Why would you go to a library at night?" Varian said stepping closer.

      "Um, I guess there's really no reason to go to the library right now," you said, "because that is exactly where I was going to go before you came in and told me not too." You faked a yawn, "I am tired so I'm going to go back to bed." You ran off into your room before he could even say anything more.

      "I know you're hiding something, but why won't you just tell me?" Varian asked silently because you were no longer there.

      You tossed and you turned as you kept hearing that voice once again, the voice grew stronger and too loud to ignore. You got up from your bed and pulled your covers away, "I can hear you, but I won't. Some look for trouble while others don't."

       You looked around the hallway and then decided that it was okay to continue walking. You wondered if everyone else was able to go to sleep, "There's a thousand reason I should go about my day, and ignore your whispers that I wish would go away, oh."

        "You're not a voice, you're just a ringing in my ear, and if I heard you, which I don't, I'm spoken for I fear," you said turning to a window that you could see the rocks from.

        "Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls, I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls." You knew that you couldn't risk the trust that Varian had in you, but you knew that the rocks needed you to go.

         "I've had my adventure, I don't need something new, I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you, into the unknown." You pushed the door open and you walked out into the cold, trying to find the path that will lead you to the voice.

         "Into the unknown! Into the unknown!" you used your ice to follow the path to the source of your power. You steered around trees and bushes in the area.

        You looked at the rocks that we're only a couple steps ahead of you now, "What do you want? 'Cause you've been keeping me awake. Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake?" you looked more at your reflection than the rocks itself. "Or are you someone out there who's a little bit like me? Who knows deep down I'm not where I'm meant to be?"

        You touched the rocks and they glowed in response, "Every day's a little harder as I feel my power grow, don't you know there's part of me that longs to go, into the unknown?"

        The rocks showed you an image of a place that you weren't quite sure where it was. You could sense that it was important, could someone there be the answers to all of the questions you had been asking for your entire life?

         "Are you out there? Do you know me? Can you feel me? Can you show me?" The rocks called back, or at least the mysterious voice connected to them. The disappeared into the ground once you had stopped seeing the vision of the mysterious place. "Where are you going? Don't leave me alone! How do I follow you into the unknown?"

         You tried to touch the ground hoping that the rocks would return back, now the only idea you had about where your powers came from was the mysterious place in the vision the rocks sent you.

         "(Y/n?)" Varian said, finding you in the dark. "What are you doing out here? Is it why you were going to leave before?"

         "Yes," you said, sadly, "I'm trying to find where my powers came from, and the rocks told me that my powers come from this strange place, but I don't know where that place is."

         "What are you going to do about it now? How come you didn't tell me sooner?" Varian said, holding your freezing cold hand.

         "I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier, but I just didn't feel like I wanted you to know. I'm going to find that place, and I'm going to leave right now." Varian got up after you got up. "Don't try to stop me."

         "I'm not going to, I'm coming with you."

         "It isn't safe," you told him.

         "I'm sorry, I survived an automaton attack, almost took over Corona, erased the memories of the royals, and helped everyone from the red rocks, so I'm coming."

         "Okay, but just know that I have no clue where we're going or what this place may hold," you told him concerned.

         "I think I may now where to start looking," he told you. Then you began your journey by hot air balloon because it is easier to view the place from above.

         "Into the unknown." you sighed.

I just dedicate my stories to the people who request them now, so yeah. Never in a million years did I think that I would be doing a songfic for this song, I used to not like it because it didn't feel like my childhood.
