DEAR reader, it has much occurred to me, that you may not be familiar with the word, 'tryst'. That is because we barely know 10 percent of the words within the first language we speak. 'Tryst' is a word in the English Dictionary, a word which here means, people who are secretly dating. Now, dear reader, do you understand what this oneshot is about? Yes, secretly dating. As much as I hoped that my short introduction set the pace for the story that is about to begin, it may have not been affective with you. Nevertheless, let us begin the tale of two lovers about to meet.

The kingdom of Corona, and a fair ball is taking place inside. The occupants are royalty, noblemen and soldiers, maids, and a couple nearby townsfolk. The ball is rowdy yet charming, tumultuous yet dignified. Your presence there you knew was not significant, but you were told to be brought there by your friend, the princess, Rapunzel. She was quite graceful, she had her short brown hair un-styled and a beautiful cream-coloured gown. You smiled as she gave you a quick wave as she danced with her newly wedded husband, Eugene.

Awkwardly, you stood near one of the walls that were covered in large draping banners. You watched as all of the many people danced until you got a little bit dizzy yourself and decided to walk out into the hallway. You waited by the hallway full of vases that Rapunzel's aunt, Willow had displayed in ornate fashion. The hallway was a little bit of eccentric taste, but you looked at one of the large vases. It covered your view of the hallway beyond you.

You were about to go around the vase when you noticed someone on the other side. Their eyes caught your eyes. Their soft blue eyes diving deep into your own and you couldn't seem to look away. You figured that you should introduce yourself, "Hello, I'm (Y/n)." You told him, "And you are?"

"I'm Varian, the royal alchemist for Corona." You knew that he had seemed familiar and yet you were just meeting for the first time, right now. You smiled at him, not trying to say anything more, within a matter of moments your life had changed just because he was in it. "Lovely party," He stammered.

"It is nice." You tried to agree with him. It was a nice party, even if you weren't having the grandest time of your life.

"It's pretty nice, I love the party, love your hair." He said. You looked at him strangely, had he just said what you thought he said? "Uh, I-um, love the air."

Nice save, you thought silently. "Do you want to ever go out sometime and do our own thing?" You asked him.

"Yeah, sure, like a date?"

"Sure, like a date." You said, confirming what he had just said, in his own words. Then you dashed off back into the crowd of people dancing. Varian couldn't chase after you, but you knew where to find him and where he'd be next.

That's how it all started, behind both of your friends back and unbeknownst to most of the kingdom of Corona, you were secretly dating. On the weekend was the first time that you saw each other again, while you completed chores in the walls of the palace, Varian was there joking around with you. It was nice to have the company and as much as you appreciated it as just company, you knew that you liked him as well.

He was so easy to get along with and you felt like he had the same connection with you. Over the days your connection got closer and closer, and you hung out for longer than usual. This time you went beyond the palace walls and he took you to all of his favourite places. Then you took him to all of his. There was a time when you had to duck away in hopes that Rapunzel and Eugene wouldn't see you. It was fairly easy to keep secrets around in the kingdom, maybe that's why there were so many.

"Do you ever think we should tell people about our relationship?" He asked you, once you were close to the borders, it was an odd place to hang around, but still remarkably beautiful.

"I just don't know how they would react, it may even cost me my place at the palace." It didn't seem likely, but the more you thought about it, there hardly any servants in the palace that were dating anymore, or even married. You wondered if there was a law that you were breaking and you worried what would happen if someone were to find out the truth.

Varian looked at you and nodded his head to the floor, you weren't sure if he was thinking or upset about something. Maybe it was both. You took his hands, "It'll be fine," and then you gave him a kiss, "I promise, that nothing will come to that." You sincerely hoped, but you felt like your promise couldn't be held. He pulled you closer and you kissed again. It was sweet, but you were worried that you had spent too long with him that it would begin to become suspicious.

"I better go, but I'll see you again, soon." With that you were away, a secret romance to keep up and a couple of feelings to keep buried inside. Maybe one day, you'd let them show, but all he needed to know was that he was the best person to spend time with and you wouldn't trade him for the world.
