WITHIN the kitchen there was loud boisterous noises. Gazing at the light coming from the ajar door, you decided to open it more to peer in. "What are you guys playing?" You decided to ask.

Then you realized Varian was wearing his long blue cloak, you knew instantly what it was, Dungeons and Dragons. "Oh, today is that night, I guess I'll just be on my way."

The troop of people looked at you. One had bright golden hair that reached halfway to her waist. She wore a bright pink dress with diamond-glazed wings. She was obviously dressing up to be a fairy. The person took you by the hand and faced you towards Varian.

"Who is this?" The blonde asked gleefully.

"It's um-they are just a friend. A friend who is probably leaving." Varian said. You knew how he felt, you would have introduced yourself to his friends earlier but they tended to be a bit rambunctious around new comers.

"What type of character do play as?" A burly man with dark skin and a moustache asked.

"I bet she's a half-goblin, obviously the best way to go." A woman with short gray hair said. She clearly was very opinionated, you decided not to mess with her.

"They're clearly not a warlock." A brunet said. Varian was holding his head in his hands, obviously things were not going as planned.

The messy-haired teenager yelled, "Enough, guys!"

"I don't play." You explained so Varian didn't have too. He smiled at you and speaking up was forth that smile.

"Oh, well I'm Rapunzel." The blonde went and introduced herself.

"Eugene." The brown-haired man shared.

"Cass."

"And Lance." Varian added at the end. Lance nodded a 'how do you do' and you nodded back at him.

Rapunzel smiled, "So what if you don't play. We could teach you!"

"I don't think that that's the best-" Varian started to say but was quickly cutoff by Eugene.

"There are a lot of rules we'd have to run by you, but other than that you should be fine."

"Also a character. Any good D and D player needs a through identity." Lance said with stature.

"A character?" You asked, looking around at the people at the table. It was certainly clear what everyone was. Cass was a half-goblin, Eugene was a warlock, Rapunzel a sprite, and Lance apparently a nymph. "That's not to hard, I'm going to be an half elf. Some of the people gasped at you. Had you done something wrong.

"A half-elf?" Cass asked as shocked as she could be.

"Yes." You confirmed. The rest of the group nodded in agreement.

"What's your name?" Lance asked.

"(Y/n)." You answered.

"Character's name." Rapunzel added.

"Oh, um how about Cosmos?" You asked coming up with the first thing on the spot.

"Sure." Eugene shrugged.

"What do you need to explain?" You asked him.

"Varian in the dungeon master which means that he reads the quest and storyline that we are supposed to follow. There will be fights and if we want to participate we must roll for initiative." It seemed simple enough but as you got into the game you realized that it was a much more complicated and intricate than anything that you had every played before. Overall, the first night of D and D for you, did not do well.

Another Friday came and you were able to reunite with the group for the second time. This time all of the group had a mysterious look on their faces like they were hiding some secret from you.

Varian said that he was tired of being the Dungeon Master and gave the position up. Which was something you were sure wasn't allowed. However they all seemed okay with it and everything carried on as usual with Lance telling the story.

"The four adventures venture into a garden full of untold riches." Eugene's interest was quite peaked by that statement. "If you desire to pick the flowers in the garden, roll for initiative." Lance said.

"This doesn't sound like D and D." You sighed.

"I shall roll for initiative!" Varian said.

"Lynx rolls for initiative!" Lance commented, like a sports commenter. Varian rolled the dice. "HA success! Lynx passes the flowers to a player, who is it?" You knew something was up.

"Cosmos." He said. You realized that it was your player's name.

"Huh what? Is this allowed?"

"Is that allowed?" Varian asked Lance.

"Yes." Lance told him. "Lynx passes the flowers to Cosmos. Cosmos, how do they react?"

"Cosmos takes them. Is shocked." You said, confused on what was going on.

"Lance?" Varian asked.

"Lynx asks Cosmos a question." Lance said.

"Since we've been calling each other friends for so long, but we still have feelings for each other I wonder if you want to make things offical."

"PAUSE!" You said. "Is that a thing?"

"It is now." Cassandra shrugged.

"This is sweet and all, but why did you need to tell me, or Cosmos that. Is it real life or D and D."

"I guess I was nervous too and decided to do it as Lynx."

"You don't have to be anyone but you." You said, kissing his forehead. "Because I love just you."

Rapunzel was holding back a squeal, clearly very excited. Cassandra and Eugene had smiles on their faces. Lance looked smug as if this was all his idea, which it wasn't you confirmed later. Strange to think that D and D is what make things official, but maybe unconventional things are the most beautiful things.
