🔥Miozomi's POV🔥
Chapter: 1 Epi: 8
I feel something fishy is about to go down...
After the chaos of yesterday — the temple collapsing, Zuko's eyes burning holes through me, the lingering weight of Gran.Lilan's words, sleep had been hard to come by.
So when dawn rose soft and golden over our little camp, I took a moment to just... breathe.
Aang was practicing little air spirals in the cool morning haze.
Katara was brushing Appa's fur with gentle strokes, murmuring something comforting to him.
Sokka was snoring under his blanket like he was auditioning to be a hog-monkey, before finally waking up.
For a heartbeat, the world felt calm.
Aang drifted over toward me with a sleepy smile, bumping his shoulder lightly against mine — casual but warm.
Katara gave me one of her soft "checking-on-you-without-saying-it" looks.
I was still tired, still sore inside, but... being near them made it easier to inhale, to exist.
I pushed myself off Appa and started gathering supplies for the next leg of our trip.
And right on cue—
"Ah, ah, ah! No flying this time."
Sokka snatched a sleeping bag straight from my hands.
I glared at him, too tired to hide it. "Hey!"
Katara crossed her arms. "What? Why can't we fly?"
Sokka looked between the three of us, clearly bracing himself for disaster.
"Look—somehow both Prince Zuko and the Fire Nation always seem to find us. Appa's just too noticeable. And Miozomi..."
He hesitated, probably trying to sound respectful.
"...she doesn't exactly hide her hair."
I blinked at him. "...Hey!"
Aang winced sympathetically. Katara shot him a look.
I tugged my long hair into a low knot and wrapped my scarf around it properly this time.
"Look, Appa does not attract that much attention. And I do try to cover my hair."
"Miozomi, look at him." Sokka gestured to Appa like he was presenting evidence in a courtroom. "He's a gigantic fluffy monster with an arrow on his head. Kinda hard to miss."
He waved toward me next, almost sheepish. "And your hair... you try. You're trying. It's... a thing you're doing."
I narrowed my eyes.
He held up his hands defensively.
"Look, I know you all want to fly spirits know I'd prefer to fly too but my instincts say we should play it safe this time. Okay?"
Katara and I let out a dramatic groan.
Aang, meanwhile, was being entirely too cheerful for someone who nearly got incinerated yesterday.
"Who knows, walking might be fun!"
I stared at him like he had personally insulted me.
He shrugged and reached for my bag. "Here, I'll take this. So you don't have to carry it down."
