Jennie -

The drive went fast, I somehow wished that it took longer than it was. Lisa was smiling the whole time and I noticed her eyes sparkle in a flash of red.

I shook the thought away and told myself that maybe the traffic light reflected in her iris or something, but I always find it intriguing every time I see a flash of red in her beautiful big doe eyes.

"We're here" she cuts the silence and I realized that we are now at the parking lot.

I didn't notice Lisa has already walked out of the car and opened the door for me. She leaned in close, too close that it made my heart go crazy. Her scent has always been overwhelming and her side profile was in full display.

She unbuckled my seatbelt and pulled away. Her body was now inches away from mine and I somehow wished that the belt got stuck so Lisa would stay near me for a longer time.

Shut it, Jennie!

"You okay? Your face is red" Lisa's doe eyes bore unto mine and I got lost in the beauty of her gaze.

"Sorry, what?" I ask and she chuckles.

"Nothing. Let's get you inside, I think it will rain" she looked up and I glanced at the sky. It was darker than the usual night sky.

I was surprised when Lisa showed me her hand, palm open - waiting for me to take it. I smiled at her and she smiled back.

"Thanks"

"You're welcome," she said and locked the door.

Lisa and I walked the quiet hallways of the building in silence. I never knew I'd be this happy to be this close with my neighbor. At my old apartment, my neighbor was an old dude who creeps me out all the freaking time. Though Lisa creeped me out the first time by climbing on my balcony at 3 am, it was a good type of creeped me out.

I never got this close with anyone else my entire life because it would be too risky for me, I had always preferred to go solo but Lisa is making me change that point of view and break my own set of rules.

I glanced at Lisa whose watching me with an unreadable expression.

"Thank you, Lisa"

Her jaw clenched but her gaze was soft.

"No Jennie"

She shook her head and leaned down, leveling her face to mine which is now just an inch away.

"Thank you, for letting me keep my sanity by staying with me tonight," she says and my heart swells.

This woman will surely kill me with her sweet words.

"No, Lisa. I should be the one thanking you. You saved me twice today and I can never be thankful enough"

"Your welcome Jennie" If one can melt from someone's gaze, that would be me. The way this woman looks at me right now makes me feel like I'm the only person she wanted to look at.

"Thank you Lisa, despite the fact that I don't believe in angels, I still wanna say that you're like an angel in disguise" I chuckled and I saw her flash a smile, but it was a sad smile.

The next few seconds were spent in complete silence. Lisa didn't utter a single word and I somehow kept my mouth shut.

Lisa's doe eyes never left mine and I was starting to drown from her unrelenting stare. Her eyebrows furrowed at me.

"Why Jennie Kim?" she says my name and it sounded so different coming from her mouth.

Her hand cupped my cheek.

"Why can't I read your mind?"

"What?" I asked, unsure of what she was trying to say.

The way her plump lips moved at each word made me feel the butterflies going crazy inside my belly.

I wonder what those lips taste like.

"Tell me what's on your mind," she says and I feel the heat in my face show up as a traitor.

Damn it, Jennie, stop being such a hormonal teenager!

"Why can't I read what's on your mind, Jennie? You're driving me crazy" her voice was deep and her face was nothing but serious.

"Why would I drive you crazy Lisa? Are you a mind reader or something?" I joked but Lisa didn't even blink.

She studied me for a few seconds, still leaning down as she stared at me in silence. Lost in her beautiful pair of big doe eyes, she was nothing but a definition of perfect.

Her eyes traveled down and if I'm not mistaken, she was staring down at my lips which made me feel the tension getting thicker by the second.

Hearts racing, hearts thumping, we both leaned in.

I closed my eyes and waited for her to do what I thought she would do, but not a second later, nothing happened.

Slowly opening my eyes, I noticed Lisa staring at space behind me with wide eyes.

I felt goosebumps and a sudden shiver.

"Chaeng?" she said and I snapped my head behind me to see nothing but my dark living room.

"W-what?" I ask, scared that Lisa saw a ghost in my apartment.

Her jaw clenched and Lisa returned her gaze back at me.

"I'm sorry Jennie, I have to go. Lock your doors, balcony and window. Okay?"

She said in a hurry and I got more confused with the sudden change of her mood.

"What's going on Lisa?" I asked but she didn't answer as she walked to her door.

She turned to me with another unreadable expression.

"Nothing, just do what I say, Jennie. I want you safe okay?"

I nod at her, "Okay. Goodnight Lisa"

"Goodnight Jennie"

Lisa -

I closed my door and leaned back. My heart is pounding so hard, it felt like my ribs are about to break.

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, waiting for her to show up.

"I can explain" her voice was soft.

I open my eyes and see Chaeyoung looking at me with eyes full of adoration.

"Was it her Chaeng?" I asked and she nodded at me.

Chaeyoung is a high-ranking angel who only watches over a human who has a deep scar in life. A human who lives a life that needs a lot of protection. A human whose life will always be in danger.

Why is Jennie being guarded by her?

"Why her Chaeng?"

"What do you mean Lis?" She asks, her halo glowing giving light to my whole apartment.

"You know what I mean Chipmunk"

She smiled at me, a smile that Chaeng never does -

a sad one.

"And you know I can't tell you why Lisa," she says with a voice laced with sadness.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and nodded in agreement.

"You have to think things through Lisa, you know what I mean"

And at that moment, my brain stopped functioning.
