(Sorry, major time skip from last chapter. I don't know how to write action well, so I'll give you the run-down of what happened before you were rescued. You were trapped for about two months, and barely let you eat or drink anything. They did a lot of terrible things to you that I won't mention because it's triggering, but they didn't let you have anything, either. Nobody ever really entered your room, so you pulled out a marker from your pocket every time you were bored and drew on the walls. There were also many drawings on your arm, but that's for other reasons. You started losing your hearing, probably from someones quirk. You weren't completely deaf, but it was hard to hear things below an inside voice. You stopped talking because there wasn't anyone to talk to, leading to pretty taxing damage on your vocal cords. Once you'd been rescued, you had to get speech therapy, but even then you didn't talk unless you had to. You were mentally scarred, and never made an effort to talk to anyone because you were scared you'd trust the wrong person again.
There you, go, all caught up. This chapter takes place after you've started school again, when you can talk but don't. The teachers don't mind, so it's not very hard to get away with.)
I walked down the loud halls, not speaking to anyone but not listening to anyone either. After the incident, Mei had tried to comfort me, but backed off when she saw the pure fear in my eyes. She hasn't tried to keep contact since then.
Not that I really minded. Now I wasn't holding Mei back like before, and we could be our own people. Although, if I'm not talking to Mei, this whole thing when we're older is gonna be difficult. Maybe I should just be a regular repair guy? Like, you take your watch to a store or something and I'd repair it? Now that I'm truly thinking it through, I like that idea a lot more than working with Mei. I get to be my own person, and I'll hardly have to talk to anyone!
Speaking of, I haven't spoken to any other students since I got back. I said a couple quiet words to Mei, but nobody else has heard any words from me. I doubt that they care though, I mean it's not like anyone notices when I'm gone.
All of a sudden, I slammed into someone. I fell to the floor, but before I could get up I felt someone latch onto me. I froze, completely rigid. My breathing picked up, and my vision was shaky, but I knew exactly what was happening around me.
"(L/N)-chan!" No. Only Toga has ever added honorifics to my name. She was the worst of all, taking my blood like a mosquito. I threw whoever was on me away and shrunk against a locker, hiding my face.
"(L/N)? What's wrong?" I couldn't move. I still had no idea who was talking to me, and it horrified me. The voice sounded innocent, but so had Toga at first.
"Midoriya, she's probably afraid. And she doesn't talk anymore, remember?" So the first voice was Midoriya, that broccoli kid from a while ago. I still didn't move, even with that understanding.
"Then shouldn't we get someone, Shouto? She has to get to class, but I don't think she'll move if we ask her to." Midoriya spoke again. I didn't want someone to touch me, so I moved my head enough to get their attention.
"Teachers know. Please leave." My voice was raspy, and I hadn't heard it in a couple of weeks. I shoved my head back down before they could get a decent look at my pale face.
I heard one of them shuffling away, but the other stayed.
"(L/N), this is ridiculous! Just talk to us already, we're your friends, aren't we?" I heard Midoriya raise his voice. Shigaraki did that every time he came in my room. He screamed at me until his voice was hoarse, trying to convince me to join the league. I shrunk away from him.
"Oh for christs sake." I felt Midoriya latch onto my arm and pull me up, and I screamed. The last time that happened, Dabi was trying to force me into another room, to hide me from the heroes that came to save me.
Midoriya covered his ears and I flew backwards and into the lockers. I crumpled into a pile, silently crying, until Midoriya knelt down next to me. He placed his hand gently on my arm and I flinched. I couldn't see his reaction since my head was buried in my arms, but I imagine he was hurt.
"Please (Y/N)? We won't hurt you, and you don't have to talk to us, but we do still want to be your friends. Will you meet us for lunch?" I thought for a second before nodding slightly. I heard him whoop and thank me before he said goodbye. Once I was sure that the hallway was empty, I made my way to class. My teacher didn't ask for an excuse, she just told me to have a seat while the rest of the class worked.
That's another thing I'm not allowed to do right now, build. Apparently, I'd injure myself if I tried because I lost so much weight and muscle mass when I was with them. I couldn't lift over 40 pounds right now, therefore my teacher refused to let me work. Instead of building, I pulled out my sketchbook to work on some designs.
Even though I like drawing better, I'd much rather be building right now. I've done nothing but draw this past week, and I'm ready to be back at work, finally creating my ideas instead of just coming up with them.
The time passed quickly, and soon it was time for lunch. I made my way, slowly might I add, to the roof. I hesitated when it came to opening the door, but I've done enough waiting. I'm tired of being alone constantly. I mean, I like it most of the time, but there's nobody talking just to talk like Mei used to. It gets too quiet, and too quiet reminds me of there. This might even help me.
With those thoughts, I opened the door. I was careful to be quiet, so they didn't notice me at first. Instead, I heard their conversation. I halted when I heard my name, the door only a few inches open.
"So she's coming here?" There was a pause. "Great! We can get her to join our group, like you'd planned!" My heart dropped. It's not... that kind of group, is it?
"I'm so excited to have a new friend, kero." Toga.
Todoroki mumbled in agreement. Dabi.
"It's going to be great to make new acquaintances to help us out!" Kurogiri.
"Guys, quieter please. She'll be here soon, and we don't want to scare her. We want her to feel welcomed enough to stay, remember?" Shigaraki.
I can't do it. I slammed the door and ran down the staircase. I'd made it to the next floor down before I heard them open the roof door.
"Was that her? Where could she possibly have gone?" I heard Asui, clear as day.
"I don't know, split up! When you find her, don't touch her. Talk quietly, and if she's crying, try... um, music might work! Shouto, you go to the first floor! Ida, you try to find her outside. Tsuyu, Uraraka, and I will take the floors between." Midoriya was reasoning again. I just hoped nobody was coming to my floor, that they'd accidentally miss it and I wouldn't have to explain.
