You didn't wake up again until one that afternoon. Tsuyu had woken up earlier than that and went to get lunch, so you were left alone in the room until she came back.
You could hear people talking on the first floor, presumably about school tomorrow. They were hardly loud enough to be made out, but it was enough for you to notice. Some voices were louder than others, primarily lower voices that sounded like the boys of the class, but there were a few distinctly female ones.
Okay, one distinctly female one.
You didn't want to get up and face the loud people downstairs, but your stomach was growling and you knew you had to eat something. After all, you didn't eat anything the day before, and you had a fuzzy memory coming back of someone telling you that if you skipped meals they'd force you to eat.
With as much hesitation as you could muster (and a shove from Amalie, who was getting annoyed by the rumbling) you started downstairs. The stairway itself didn't seem all that intimidating for the amount of floors, which surprised you.
For some reason, you appeared to navigate the place without knowing where exactly things were. You had no clue where you were going, but muscle memory led you there and you were grateful for it.
You hesitated at the bottom of the stairs, the voices now being loud enough for you to make out. The loud girl you'd heard earlier sounded like the pink girl whose name you'd forgotten, and the loudest boys sounded like Bakugou's friends.
Before you could decide to open the door, it flew open on its own. Midoriya stood in front of you, barely catching the fact that you were there quickly enough to avoid running into you.
"Sorry (Y/N)! I didn't realize you were there." He gave you a nervous laugh, backing away a bit. "If you don't mind, actually, could we talk for a bit?" You gave him a smile, nodding before signalling that you were going to get food first. "Oh, right! You're probably hungry, I'll wait for you in the living room!"
He bounced away, a slightly red tint covering the tips of his ears. He seemed nervous, though you couldn't tell why. What about you could have that affect?
You grabbed a piece of bread and an apple, ignoring the looks that the others in the kitchen kept giving you. It was unclear whether they were stares of shock at your choice of food or stares of shock at you being near them. Either way, you ate quickly before leaving to talk to Midoriya.
He was sitting on the couch next to Todoroki when you saw him. The two-toned boys arms were around his shoulders, and it looked like they were talking about something. You couldn't hear it with how they were whispering, so you pretended not to notice.
You tapped his shoulder, startling him out of his conversation with Todoroki.
"(Y/N)! You scared me!" He held a hand to his chest, breathing slightly faster than normal and giving you a smile. "Are you done?"
You nodded, returning his cheerful smile. So far, no 'bad' memories were resurfacing of him, so there was always a chance that there wouldn't be any. Still, the walk up to his room was quiet, and you walked a little behind him.
He opened the door for you when you reached it, and suddenly there was no escaping this. It hadn't hit you that you were going to be entering a strangers room and attempting to communicate with him until just now, and it hit you like a ton of bricks.
Still, you entered anyways. Anxiety kept you from backing out.
He closed the door, but not once did he lock it. That put you at ease, and you relaxed slightly and sat in his desk chair.
You looked around at the All Might merch covering his room in slight awe. How could he afford all of it, with presumably more at home?
"(Y/N)?" He gathered you attention as he sat down on his bed, a guilty look covering his usually bright features. "I'm sorry."
You cocked your head, giving him a confused look.
"Why?"
His eyes widened slightly at your voice, but didn't falter. "I guess I haven't been the best? I mean, we left you alone on the roof that day, and basically chased you down, and then after when I didn't realize something had happened and I yelled at you, I-" He broke slightly, voice cracking. "I shouldn't have done any of that, It wasn't right of me."
You didn't remember any of this, so it didn't matter much to you that it happened. Plus, what was he gonna do about the roof? He couldn't have fought off Toga and Dabi just like that, even if he thought so. It couldn't have been helped.
"You don't have to say anything, I just wanted to apologize since I haven't really gotten the chance yet." He looked down, fists clenched around his shorts. "I should've been better, so I'm really sorry for my lack of a filter."
"You didn't do anything wrong." The strength of your voice never ceased to amaze you, but with the addition of a lot more memories you were finding it easier and easier to talk. "You couldn't have changed what happened that day, and you didn't know."
"I couldn't changed it, though. There were five of us on the roof that day, we could've taken down one villain!"
"There were two. They would've hurt you guys. It can't be changed now, so it's fine."
"Two doesn't make it any better, (Y/N). Two just means that you probably felt even more afraid and we left you there alone to lecture Monoma over something you told us wasn't even that important."
Midoroya shook in his place, but try as you might you couldn't figure out a way to help.
"I'm just- I'm just sorry, okay?" He squeaked, tears finally leaking from his eyes.
