"Tsu, can you get the ornaments? They should be upstairs in the junk room." You called out to your wife as you messed with the branches on the tree. You had to make sure it was all perfect before disaster struck and it became a messy form of perfect.
She laughed a bit, stepping around the mess in front of the stairs.
"Sure thing, kero. But we're playing Pentatonix once I get back down."
"Obviously!" You called up the stairs after her, laughing. You inhaled, standing up and walking over to the speakers. It only took a couple clicks and taps to get it connected to your phone, prepped and ready with Youtube open.
Quick footsteps came echoing down the stairs, followed shortly by the calmer steps of your frogish wife.
"Xavier! Alex!" You called over to them as 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' started playing. They stopped dead in their tracks, almost tripping over each other. "Do you want to help decorate the tree?" Their eyes widened as they nodded quickly, rushing to get to you.
Tsuyu approached at the bottom of the stairs again, dragging the tub of ornaments close behind her. Your kids ignored her, squealing at you as you tried to quiet them through giggles.
Tsuyu huffed, collapsing on the floor. Your children still refused to give her any attention, so she let out a loud 'bleh' sound and proceeded to play dead.
That got the kids' attention rather quickly, as they both turned around with wide eyes to find their mother to be what they assumed was dead.
"Xavier, you grab her arms, I'll grab her legs! We're going to bury her out back, alright?" Alex seemed to panic as she grabbed hold of her mothers ankles. Xavier just nodded with wide eyes as they both attempted and failed miserably. You were practically cackling in your chair as Tsuyu let them deal with her full weight.
"What the heck are you guys doing?" You gasped out between your laughing fits, eyes hardly opening enough to look at them.
"We're going to bury her so you don't get pinned for her death, mommy!" Alex shouted out confidently, still trying to drag her very much alive mother out of the living room.
Tsuyu finally lost her composure, laughing like a madman as her children screamed. Xavier went through the trouble of grabbing a pillow as a defense form, shielding himself with it and ready to use it as a weapon against the pro hero.
Both of you were on the floor cackling, confusing our children.
"Mommy? Mama? What's so funny?" Xavier stepped out from behind his shield hesitantly, giving you a confused look. Alex, ignoring the fact that she thought her mom was dead two seconds ago, proceeded to climb onto the greenette's back to cuddle in.
"Mama was just pretending to be dead to get your attention." You chuckled, watching realization dawn on his face.
"Oh." The little boy walked over to your wife quietly, gathering her attention from the little gremlin clutching onto her back. "Mama?"
"Yes, kero?"
"I'm sorry we tried to bury you in the backyard because we thought you were dead." Tsuyu chuckled again, lifting the six year old into her arms.
"It's okay, mommy wouldn't have let you actually bury me."
"Oh, I so would've. Collected the insurance, took the kids on a nice vacation, the whole shabang." You both laughed yet again as Alex rushed over to you. The little girl was quick to get herself in your arms, playing with your hair since it was longer than Tsuyu's.
Both children were released after a few more minutes of jokes so that the tree would actually get decorated. Your initial guess was correct, too, because it ended up turning out just like you'd theorized. Ornaments without hooks littered the floor, somehow a pickle had ended up in the nettles of the tree, and the ornaments that made it onto the tree were a conglomeration of different colors, shapes, sizes, and some of them weren't even supposed to be ornaments.
Still, with your arm around your wife's waist, you stood and admired it with the love of your life. Your children lay asleep on the couch, feet away from their masterpiece. With an air of calm, the two of you tucked the kids into their actual beds and laid on the couch watching the Nightmare Before Christmas movie, like you always did.
Everything was right, as it should be and as it will always be.
