Tsu sat with you for about fifteen minutes as you just stared off into space, not really experiencing what was going on around you. She was combing her fingers through your hair, a nervous pattern she'd picked up whenever she was stressed.
Eventually, you snapped back into yourself, because you sat bolt upright on the couch, thoroughly startling Tsuyu. You looked around in slight panic until your eyes rested on Tsuyu, at which point you relaxed back into the couch.
"How are you feeling, kero?"
You held up your hand, giving her a thumbs up.
"Are you tired?" You nodded.
"How about we leave and go somewhere a bit more calm, kero." You gave her a tired smile, nodding again.
"That sounds nice." Your voice was raspy, though Tsu expected that much. She nodded, leaving the couch to go tell someone where you were going. You sat patiently waiting for her to get back, but it took way longer than your impatient brain liked.
You were tempted to get up and wander around for a bit, but you weren't sure you'd have the strength to do that if someone tried to talk to you again.
As you were contemplating your choices, one of the people who'd defended you earlier approached you. He gave you a disarming smile, teeth shining in the somewhat dark room. He seemed to practically radiate energy, and the black streak in his hair told you that probably had to do with his quirk.
"Hi! You're (Y/N), right?" You nodded, returning a smile cautiously. "Awesome! I'm Denki Kaminari, I'm in Asui's class." So that's how he knew you, then. If he was in the hero course then he must be safe to be around, right?
"You know, she talks about you a lot." You froze slightly, turning a light pink. "She's always going on about how great you are, and how pretty you are, and how she's so lucky that you're her soulmate." He gave you a grin. You turned more and more red with every word. "She was right, though. You are really pretty." By now, you were as bright as that sharkish boys hair.
"Th-thanks, I th-think..." You looked down, trying to make it a little harder to see how red he'd made your face.
"So where did she go? She doesn't seem like the kind to leave you alone at a party, especially after what happened."
"She went to go tell someone that we were leaving." He nodded. "Do you know sign language?" Your voice was straining, and it was becoming more and more difficult to talk.
"Yeah, actually! My little sister convinced me to learn it, in case someone wanted to talk to me but couldn't hear." You let out a little sigh of relief, thanking him silently. "Wait, why?"
It's easier for me to sign to people. My voice isn't strong enough yet to talk for very long. You signed out quickly, though slightly sloppy.
"I guess that makes sense. But why is your voice so weak?"
You hesitated to give him an explanation. I mean, why should you? You didn't know this boy, and it's not like you owed him something. Yet, as soon as your anxiety kicked in, you decided that you didn't want to be rude and not tell him anything.
Some stuff happened in the past, and at one point I didn't talk for months on end. He looked a bit shocked, though who wouldn't be?
"What kind of stuff? What could make a person go quiet for months?" You looked down, trying to tell him that you couldn't explain any more.
"What's going on over here, kero?" Tsuyu walked up to the couch, sliding next to you and quickly putting her arm around your shoulder.
"We were just talking. (Y/N) was actually just telling me about why it's hard for her to talk. Though I think the subject is meant to be dropped." Kaminari rubbed his neck, giving Tsu a guilty look.
"Okay then. You ready to go, (N/N)?" You nodded standing up.
It was nice to meet you, Kaminari. I'll see you around sometime, okay? You gave him a tired smile, which he gladly returned.
"Definitely. Bye guys!" He walked off, waving to the both of you.
"Welp, wanna get out of here, kero?" You nodded quickly, making her chuckle. "Alright, let's go then." She led you out of the party, this time making sure her hand didn't leave yours. You were grateful.
Eventually, you'd weaved your way to the front door. Tsu moved to open it, but before she could do much, it turned to ash in front of her. You stared in shock at the pile that used to be wood before looking up at the man who had caused it.
Dabi.
He stood there, out of breath, with an insane look in his eyes. You backed up quickly, Tsu quickly moving to stand in front of you in a fighting position.
"Hi there. Hand over the little doll now, before I gotta burn down the entire house." His glare moved quickly to Tsuyu, making her freeze slightly. The party continued loudly behind you, noboding seeming to notice the criminal in the doorway.
"Not a chance, kero. You've done enough to her!" She was close to yelling, and a few people noticed. They just stared in shock at the scarred boy and the froggish girl glaring at each other.
Midoriya weaved his way through the crowd, trying to find out why someone had crashed into him muttering about a commotion. Todoroki followed close behind, soon leading the rest of the DekuSquad to the front.
"Touya?" Todoroki spoke up, earning a glare from Dabi.
"Don't call me that." He moved his glare back to the boy next to Midoriya. "You don't have the right, son of Endeavor." His glare turned sadistic as his eyes moved back to your shaking figure.
"Why are you here, Dabi? You were thrown in prison!" Ida piped up, doing his weird hand motions yet again.
"Isn't it obvious?" He let out a low, almost horrifying chuckle. "I'm here for (Y/N)."
