The next morning was confusing, to say the least. You distinctly remembered falling asleep in the small alcove next to an indifferent Bakugou, yet you woke up in a soft bed with Monokuma in your arms and you snuggled comfortably into someones side.
You held back from freezing, trying to pretend you were still asleep just in case the person next to you was awake or was to wake up. You stayed slack in your position, the only thing moving being your grip on the two toned bear in your arms.
You grew glad that you hadn't moved when the person next to you rolled onto their side so that they faced you. You also grew increasingly more satisfied with your idea to keep your eyes comfortably closed.
The sigh that escaped their lips sounded familiar. It scared you, in all honesty. If this was Dabi, you wouldn't be surprised. He'd often done this exact thing while you were stuck in that godawful room, so it was only logical for you to go back to that when the situation repeated itself.
"I know you're awake, kero." Tsuyu's voice echoing through your mind made all your worries about Dabi go away, only to be replaced by memories of the night before. You still refused to open your eyes. "Bakugou told me why you ran off. I'm sorry that had to be the first thing you remembered about me."
You huffed, rolling onto your other side so she was left to look at your back.
"(Y/N), don't be like that." She sighed, gently putting her hand on your arm. You held back the temptation to shove it off. "I really am sorry. I know I shouldn't have doubted you like that, not after everything you'd done to recover. If it makes you feel any better, you squashed everyone's doubts the second you walked in those doors yesterday."
Before you could turn around to sign your words of disagreement to her, your mind went blank. Seconds later, it filled with familiar images and the corresponding audio.
Amalie dancing around in front of you as you sang to her, Tsuyu falling asleep on your shoulder in the middle of a song, the ring she gave to you after your adventure through the city, it all rushed back to you in what was an overwhelming five seconds. Every memory you might've had in that dorm flooded into your mind at once, both easing your concerns and increasing them.
The speed with which you moved out of bed would've made even the pickiest of Sonic's proud. In your haste to leave, however, you had fallen flat on your face and scared Tsuyu. Even Amalie had emerged from her bed at the commotion.
"Are you okay?" Tsuyu's concern leaked through her voice no matter how much she tried to disguise it. She helped you up carefully, not wanting to scare you further. The tears soaking through your eyes didn't ease her concern though, and neither did the sudden hug you pulled her into.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." You sobbed into her shoulder, holding on for dear life. "You did so much for me, I'm so sorry Tsu!" She shushed you, rubbing your back softly and trying not to cry herself.
"(Y/N), please calm down, it's okay. You didn't do anything wrong." You shook your head into her shoulder, refusing to believe her.
"I forgot you! I-Tsu, I took off the ring! I'm an awful soulmate, I'm so sorry!" Your sobs were loud and angry, refusing to die down no matter what Tsuyu told you.
"(Y/N), please babydoll, I need you to calm down and talk to me so I can help you. You're not an awful soulmate, and it's not your fault that you forgot. Really, please, calm down, (N/N)."
It took her a while, but Tsuyu managed to calm you down enough to get you sitting peacefully in your beanbag chair, Monokuma snuggled tightly in your arms and fresh tear tracks etched into your cheeks.
"I'm sorry." Your murmur seemed to fill the room entirely. Tsuyu sat crouched in front of you, hands on your knees as you tried not to cry again.
"(Y/N), baby, you have nothing to be sorry for. Did you remember something, kero?" You nodded, avoiding eye contact with her. "What was it?"
"The treasure hunt, and the late night song, and-" you could feel your throat closing up, trying to force you to stop talking and deal with it silently. Your hands shook violently, unconsciously moving Monokuma with them.
"Hey, it's okay, kero. You don't need to tell me everything right now. If you'd like, we can go lay back down and sleep and pretend none of this even happened." You nodded, letting her smile grace itself into your mind as she pulled you out of your sitting position and over to your bed.
While you drifted off into sleep again, it became evident to you that you were gaining back more than just your memories. While you were worried it wouldn't come back even with your memories, you were proud to say that your feelings for Tsuyu were returning just as quickly and fiercely, leaving hardly any space to breathe calmly.
