School was strange, to say the least.

Your classmates seemed awful interested in you despite hardly even knowing your name. They'd never talked to you before, Mei was the only one, so why did they suddenly care?

"(Y/N)! How are you feeling?" A girl with dark blue hair bound up to you as soon as you'd made it in the doors. You'd wanted nothing more than to shrink in on yourself, to hide away from her and run as far as your legs could carry you, but you wanted to make Tsuyu proud of you. And to do that, you had to stay in school.

You gave the girl a small smile and a thumbs up, hoping she'd leave you alone after that. Sadly, her dark purple eyes widened and she started apologizing really quickly.

"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have asked, you can't talk and that was probably really rude of me! I'm sorry!" She covered her mouth with her hand. She really looked like she regretted what she said, but the smoke coming from her ears surprised you a bit. Looking closer, there was a thin layer of steam coming off of all of her, but she wasn't on fire. You guessed that was probably something to do with her quirk.

"Kemuri, leave the poor girl alone." Another girl walked up behind her, this one with salmon pink hair that faded to white at the tips. She had dark green eyes that were covered with giant Harry Potter-esque glasses. She gave you a sorry grin, gently gripping the other girls shoulder just enough that she got the point. "Sorry about her, she saw you on the news and got really worried. The entire class did, really."

Now that shocked you. Why would they worry? They didn't know you. They had no reason to worry about you. Maybe they'd worry about Mei because she seemed pretty distraught, but not you directly. Why would they worry?

"We really thought you might be seriously hurt!" Kemuri piped back in, having grown antsy just standing there and trying not to overwhelm you. "And no classmate of mine gets seriously hurt by a villain with me avenging them!" She stamped her foot, face growing slightly red as she crossed her arms over her chest. It still didn't make sense to you, though. Yeah, you were classmates, but there's a large difference between classmates and actual friends.

"Kemuri, calm down before I tape you to a chair." That seemed to shut the bluenette up, because her mouth clamped shut like when Beetlejuice silenced Barbara with that piece of metal. "Really though, the entire class was worried about you. A ton of us wanted to visit, but Mei told us it probably wasn't the best idea with the state you were in."

The pink haired girl lead Okurimono away from you, shooting you one more sorry glance in the process. You didn't understand what just happened, but at this point you didn't care anymore. You just wanted class to start so you could scratch your itch to build something.

The one day that you absolutely needed to build something, the teacher had planned an actual lesson. Mei gave you an apologetic look right before he'd started, but you just sat in your chair in shock all period.

But now, you were entirely ready to go to lunch. You would go to the roof, but it terrified you to even consider it. There was also the option to sit with Tsu and her friends, but that scared you even more than eating on the roof.

You made up your mind quickly. You'd eat outside, in a small alcove of the campus where most people didn't go. After all, it was a nice day out, and you remembered seeing butterflies hanging out in the area before. It sounded serene, so you were easily persuaded to eat there.

Mei didn't question you when you told her she could go ahead. She probably assumed you'd be joining her at your regular table, or that you had work to do. She trusted you to eat over lunch, so she usually let you do your thing if you told her you wanted to. You were eternally grateful for that, because then there was nothing standing in the way of you getting outside unnoticed.
