Tsuyu did end up calling your brother and Shouta, who absolutely went off on the little boy. He apologized while Shouta pulled Hizashi off of him.
Tsuyu had carried you off of the bus and to a small area where people wouldn't accidentally step on you as this happened. It took roughly twenty minutes for you to wake up, with Hizashi and the little boy continuously asking if you were okay the entire time.
Shouta started to get annoyed with his boyfriend halfway through, but refused to shove him away for fear of giving him a breakdown that he didn't want to deal with right now.
As your eyes started to open, a cacophony of screaming and yelling startled you into Tsuyu's arms even further. She could feel you shaking like a leaf as your brother bombarded you with questions, which lead to Shouta smacking him on top of his head to shut him up.
"You okay?" Tsuyu whispered into your ear, trying to be quiet as possible. You answered her with a small nod, burrowing into her jacket until you were fully hidden. Because of the proximity, you could feel Amalie shifting in the fabric of her hoodie to check on you.
"There, are you satisfied now?" Shouta turned tiredly to the little boy, you gave him a hesitant shake of the head. Shouta sighed loudly. "What could you possibly not trust about this now?"
He cleared his throat, asking for your attention. Tsuyu glared at him as you hesitantly pulled away from her warmth, turning your gaze to him. "Do you trust them? Are you safe with them?"
You nodded, not pausing to think like he'd thought you would. He was slightly taken aback, his next question came popping out before he could even think.
"Why do you trust them so much after what they've done?"
"They've protected me through all of it. I know I'm reckless, and the accident was my fault. They were busy fighting, and it was my job to get out. Even then, I insisted on helping and actually made it harder, yet they brought me out and took me to a doctor." You gave him a bright smile before your hands caught up with you and a look of shock covered your face. It matched almost exactly with Shouta's.
"What? What did she say?" Tsuyu and the boy spoke at the same time.
"She remembers something!" Hizashi screeched, holding back his urge to lunge at you in a hug.
"She said it's because we've protected her even though she thinks it's her fault that she got hurt." Shouta pulled a calm demeanor over his shock, masking it for a time when you all were more alone.
The little boy nodded, smile growing more on his features. He said his goodbyes quickly, now feeling awkward at the situation.
"Please explain what she remembers, kero." Tsuyu's arms snaked around your waist now that you were frozen in shock and facing away from her.
"She described the fight up until she passed out, saying that she was supposed to get out but she stayed to fight and that's what got her hurt." He crossed his arms over his chest, shoulders tensed and nervousness underlying his features. "Let's get back to the dorms, we've got to talk a bit."
By the time you'd all gotten back, all of 1A was waiting downstairs to greet you. Someone had clearly forced them to take down all of the party stuff, and you silently thanked whoever had convinced them to make it a smaller thing.
Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, and Mei were all waiting at the front of the crowd, along with a couple boys that looked familiar but weren't at the top of your memory at the moment. They looked at you anxiously, waiting for a signal that you remembered anything.
Tsuyu was just as taken aback as you. She wasn't aware that anyone was throwing a party, much less one for your return. Out of instinct, she'd carefully moved you behind her just enough so she could deflect any attacks.
You gave a small wave, eyes wide as you tried to avoid their stares.
"What's going on here, kero?"
"We threw a little party for (Y/N) since she just got out of the hospital!" A pink girl yelled, seemingly really excited. You couldn't help but wonder if she'd been one of your friends before. "Bakugou made us tone it down, though, so that she wouldn't get overwhelmed."
Mei still looked devastated, so you let your gaze fall on her while her eyes refused to leave the floor. She was nothing like you remembered, with baggy clothes that you assumed belonged to the boy with his arms around her shoulders and no energy anywhere on her features.
Her usually bright face was dark and blank. She shrunk in on herself with her arms crossed over herself, trying to avoid anything and everything.
She looked like you.
As the party picked up a bit, you made your way over to her. You held your hand behind your back, using the other to tap her shoulder quickly. Once you had her attention, you held out both of your arms for a hug.
She gladly gave you one, making you feel even safer than you thought you would. Hearing her break down in sobs in your ear made you feel awful, yet her head burrowing into your shoulder helped your guilt dissipate.
"I'm so sorry." She wept. Her voice made you want to cry along, so you scrunched your eyes and willed them not to. You held each other like your lives depended on it because you felt like they did.
Mei had just lost her best friend for the second time and is at risk of losing her again. Sure, now she had a soulmate, but she needed you around her with the dumb jokes and the repair ideas that made the project twenty times easier.
You were in an unfamiliar place surrounded by unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar voices that echoed through your psyche and messed with your thoughts. You needed Mei, the one familiar figure, to pull you out and keep you calm.
The party continued on around you with loud talking and dancing and music while you and Mei collapsed on the floor in a tight hug that neither of you wanted to escape from.
A/N:
haha gotta love major depressive episodes that get worse when you try to talk to your friends or even log onto instagram for less than a minute.
really though, sorry this was a bit late, I've been really tired all day and almost fell asleep on my couch several times (which wouldn't have been fine since my brother is home too) and almost passed out while I was making myself dinner.
Also, no giving me shit for this, but I saw a tiktok earlier today that said something along the lines of 'if you say i love you to your family members and they react like they're weirded out then you're in a toxic household' so i tried it on my family and the results were that my younger brother threw something at me for talking to him while he was watching a show and my older brother didn't reply to the text at all and left me on read. Both of my parents said things along the lines of 'what do you want? oh and love you too i guess' which kinda confirms what I already knew but still kinda hurt so anyone wanna give me happy stories please?
you don't have to, i'd just greatly appreciate them.
