No matter what happens I'll always stand by you

This shouldn't have happened

It was scan day. Janette woke up and thought something was wrong with the baby and decided she wasn't going to say anything to Amy or Ben. She went downstairs to find Amy and Ben having breakfast and sat down to join them. Amy could tell that something was up with Janette. She mouthed you ok to Janette who nodded trying to convince herself that she'd imagined something not being right. Amy wasn't fooled by Janette's pretence and knew that she had to talk to her after breakfast.

After breakfast Janette went to have a shower, Amy went after her to talk to her. "Janette wait." Amy called as Janette was half way up the stairs not wanting to talk to anyone. Janette realised she had to stop. "What's up? I was just about to go for a shower." Janette replied. "What's going on and don't say nothing. I can tell that something's up, I know you better than you think." Amy hoped that Janette trusted her enough to tell her. Janette sat on the stairs and started crying, Amy sat next to her and whilst Janette let all the tears out. Ben came out of the kitchen and saw the girls on the stairs so he went back to the kitchen so they could talk.

Once Janette stopped crying she yelled "apart from everything that's happened over the last few days and Aljaz still not caring about the scan and me reliving my past I'm absolutely fine." Amy could tell that it was something else "Janette your not, I can tell there's something else, please talk to me." Janette ran off, Amy was about to go after her when Ben came out of the kitchen. "I'm guessing that you heard that." Amy said as she went over to where Ben was. He could tell that she needed a hug so he held his arms open for his fiancé who definitely needed a hug. Ben held Amy close and knew that she was really worried about her friend. "I know you're really worried about Janette but we have to let her handle it in her own way." Amy knew that Ben was right, "we should go and get ready."

Janette knew that she'd upset her friend and that she had to say sorry. She finished getting ready then went back downstairs where she found Ben. "Where's Amy?" Janette asked. "Just finishing getting ready." Ben replied. Amy walked downstairs. "Ready to go?" She asked. Ben and Janette nodded. Janette text Aljaz to tell him that he could still come to the scan and that she was on her way.

When they got to the hospital there was no sign of Aljaz, Janette secretly hoped that he would be inside. Her and Amy got out of the car and said they'd text Ben when they were out. They went up to the ward, signed in and sat down to wait for Janette's name to be called. While they were waiting, Janette kept getting flashbacks to her last scan with Aljaz and her last pregnancy. Amy could tell how scared Janette was.

"Everything will be ok Janette" Amy said trying to calm her friend down. "I hope so, sorry for yelling at you earlier and thanks for coming with me. I don't think I could go through this by myself." Janette replied, grateful that her friend was still by her side.

"Janette Manrara" Lexi the midwife called. "I don't know if I can do this Amy" Janette said and Amy could tell how scared she was. "Everything will be ok, I'll be with you" Amy replied, while trying to convince herself it would be. They stood up and followed Lexi, both trying not to think about the last time they were there. Janette got on the bed and Lexi put the gel on. Lexi started putting the ultrasound over Janette's stomach. "I'll be back in a minute" Lexi stated, then left the room. Janette and Amy looked at each other knowing it couldn't be good. "This is Libby my colleague" Lexi explained as they entered the room. "What's going on?" Janette asked close to tears. Amy grabbed her hand for support. "Let Libby have a look at the scan then I'll explain." Lexi replied sensing Janette's anxiety.
