Introducing my family to Ava

Today was the day that I was introducing Ava to my family and I had no idea how it would go.

Aljaz was picking Ava up for me while I was at home with Noah and my family.

When they walked in the house, I walked out to say hi and to give Ava a hug. Noah was in the lounge with my family. "Hey, do you want to give me a hand getting some drinks?" "Sure" Ava put her jacket on the banister and followed me into the kitchen while Aljaz went to talk to my family. "You ok?" "I will be once I've said hi. Can I sit by you?" "Of course you can. It'll be ok" "doesn't mean I'm any less nervous" "it'll be ok" "hope so. Let's do it"

Ava and I walked into the lounge and she saw Noah's face light up. Ava held the tray while I handed out the drinks then Ava sat next to me while I introduced her to my family and my family to her. Noah started to get restless on Lesly's lap and she didn't know how to calm him down. "Can I try?" "Yeah" Ava walked over to where Lesly was sat and took him from her causing him to calm down. "Missed you monkey" "he's missed you too"

Ava sat next to me bouncing Noah up and down on her lap.

Aljaz could tell that something was up. "Hey Ava, do you want to come with me to get some food shopping?" "Yes please" "Ali, can you take Noah with you?" "Of course" "come on then, let's change him before we go"

Aljaz and Ava got off the sofa with Noah. Ava went to change Noah while Aljaz got Noah's things and put them in the car. Once she'd changed Noah, she brought him downstairs, got her jacket off the banister and went to meet Aljaz in the car.

Once I knew that they were gone, I lost it. "Do you know what you've done?" "Nope" "you've made my daughter feel so awkward that she didn't feel comfortable here that she couldn't wait to get out of here. I waited so long to have her back in my life, been through hell and back with her; she was there for me during everything that happened with Noah when you stopped talking to me and I won't stand for you treating Ava like she's not part of the family anymore. If you don't like it then you can leave"

Aljaz text me to let me know that he was taking Noah and Ava to the park by the shops and to make sure that I was ok. I didn't tell them what had happened, I'd tell them when they got back as I wanted Noah and Ava to have fun.

After half an hour Ava text me to let me know that they were on their way back.

Ava tucked Noah in and stayed with him until he was fast asleep again. I heard her coming downstairs and heading to the kitchen to see if Aljaz needed any help. I went to find them as I needed a hug from them and Ava instantly knew that I wasn't ok. "What happened?" "I'm alright. Did you have fun with Aljaz and Noah?" "I did. Noah's fast asleep upstairs. Are your family still here?" "They are" "why do you look so worried?" I couldn't hold back the tears anymore; which caused Aljaz to lose it. He stormed into the lounge. "What do you think you're playing at? This isn't the first time that you've upset Janette but this is the first time that you've met Ava and you've done absolutely nothing to make her feel welcome; all you've done is blank her and make her feel awkward" Lesly and Alejandro didn't know what to say and you could tell that they felt bad.

Noah started crying so Ava quickly ran upstairs to comfort him and to calm herself down. I didn't know what to do; mum and dad got up, went upstairs then came down with their suitcases packed. They called a taxi and left. Lesly and Alejandro came to give me a hug then I heard Ava and Noah walking downstairs. "Aljaz take Noah for me please" Ava gave Noah to Aljaz then held out her arms for me, I walked into them desperate for a hug as hers made me feel better. Ava stood there trying to comfort me but all I could do was cry. The others didn't know what to do or say.
