Mother and son day

I woke up several times in the night thinking about what had happened when Karen and I had got back from our shopping trip. I could hear Noah sounding like he could wake up at any point. Aljaz was still asleep so I quickly got up to pick Noah up. It felt like ages since I'd last had cuddles in bed with Noah since I was usually asleep and Aljaz was awake. Noah reached his hand up so I took it and started kissing it causing him to start smiling. That's when I knew what I wanted to do today which was spend it with my son.

When it got to seven I got up to get some food and took a fast asleep Noah with me in case he woke up again. When we got to the kitchen, I put him in his bouncer with his mobile playing and tried to decide what to have for breakfast. Noah started to stir after I'd finished my toast with banana on top and coffee. I gently picked him up and instantly knew that he would want a feed. Just as I finished Aljaz appeared. "How long have you two been up?" He asked coming up behind us for a hug. "A while. Can you look after Noah while I have a shower? I would have had one when you were in bed but I knew if I had then he would have woken up then he'd wake you up" "of course I can. I wouldn't have minded" "I won't be long"

After I got out of the shower, I quickly got dressed, dried my hair and put it in a high bun trying to stop Noah from going near it even though I knew that he would. Once I'd finished getting ready I went back to the kitchen. "Have you got any plans for today?" I asked walking to the kettle. "I was going to go out and take Noah with me" "do you have to take Noah? I kinda wanted to spend the day with him as I haven't seen him much lately and it could explain why he had a tantrum last night" "if you wanna spend the day with him then I'll leave him with you. Then I can take my time and not have to rush so he can have a nap etc" "thanks Ali" "I love you" "I love you more and don't start arguing with me like you normally do"

Once Aljaz had left, Noah was still asleep so I went to get some of his toys out for when he woke up. As soon as I had finished he started crying. I picked him up and took him into the lounge where I'd put his toys. I put him down, sitting next to him and let him explore and play with what he wanted.

Noah and I had a good few hours playing with his toys and spending time together. It made me realise what I'd missed out on with Ava. We watched some children's Disney movies then he fell asleep.

Usually I'd tidy his toys up while he slept but I decided to leave them for today as he'd had fun this morning and would probably want to play again when he woke up.
