No matter what happens I'll always stand by you

Noah's checkup

Today was Noah's check up from his time in hospital and for his jabs.

Aljaz had disappeared when I woke up. Noah started to stir so I got up to see to him. As soon as I picked him up he didn't stop crying which was unusual for him. I walked around for a bit to see if he would settle but it didn't help. I messaged Aljaz; he usually replied straight away but he didn't today.

I knew that I'd be facing Noah's appointment by myself. I finally settled Noah so he'd feed. He fell asleep so I quickly got dressed in case Noah woke up.

When Noah woke up he started crying again so I went to pick him up. It was like he could sense that Aljaz wasn't around and that he'd be going to the doctors soon. I walked around with him as I started to get everything ready to go out.

Once I was ready, I put Noah in his pram with his favourite toy and set off for the doctors. On our way I kept hoping that Aljaz would reply to my message or be at the doctors but neither happened.

We got called in and I knew that Noah would kick off. He was alright when the doctor was giving him his check up, but as soon as Noah saw the needles that was it. I tried everything but nothing worked. After what felt like forever, I managed to calm Noah down enough for the doctor to give him his injections.

As soon as we got out of there Noah fell asleep. I was going to take him to the park but I took him home instead. I'd just put him in his bed when Karen phoned

Me: "hey"
Karen: "hey"
Me: "what's up?"
Karen: "aren't I allowed to phone my best friend?"
Me: "yeah, it's just been one of those days"
Karen: "do you want me to come over?"
Me: "it's ok, Noah's just gone for his nap so I'm going to get a few things done"
Karen: "you don't sound like you're ok, what you doing tomorrow?"
Me: "I will be. Nothing that I know of why?"
Karen: "here if you need me. I'll be round in the morning to collect my favourite person to give you a break"
Me: "you don't have to"
Karen: "Janette Manrara don't argue with me. I wanna help you out plus spend some time with my favourite person"
Me: "I thought i was your favourite person? Are you telling me I've been replaced?"
Karen: "you are my favourite person but we both know that your son loves his auntie Karen and is really going to complain about spending the day with her"
Me: "thanks Karen"
Karen: "it's what best friends are for. I'll see you in the morning"

Noah was still asleep so I started on the list of things I had to do. I'd just finished when Noah started to wake up and I knew he'd want cuddles and feeding. I grabbed a drink from the kitchen, got Noah and curled up on the sofa with no intention of moving for the night.
