Meeting Chloe

Today was the day that I was meeting my daughters adopted mum and to say that I was terrified was an understatement. I'd got on with Ashley when he was here and could see that Ava liked him. I have no idea why but for some reason I was more terrified to meet Chloe than I was to meet Ashley.

Noah was doing a lot better than he was when Ava was last here. I couldn't wait to see them properly meet today and for her to see how much he'd grown.

I kept turning around to see if Ava was here yet. It felt like ages since I'd last seen her but it had only been a few weeks which had flown by. On my umpteenth turn around I saw her standing there with two women; one I recognised as Bex from the last visit so I guessed the other woman must be Chloe. I signalled for them to come in and the next thing I knew Ava was running over and hugging me. As soon as she saw Noah she went over to him. "He's looking so much better and he's grown so much. How's he doing?" "Much better. Should hopefully be able to take him home soon"

Just as Bex was about to introduce Chloe and I, Ava turned around and looked at Bex who instantly knew that Ava wanted to do the introductions. Once Ava had introduced us, Chloe wanted to talk to me and I instantly felt sick. We left Ava and Bex with Noah and went into the corridor.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked trying to stay calm. "I was talking to Ava the other day and she really wants us to get along" Chloe replied. "She's a good girl. I'd like for us to get on as well." I replied. We talked for a bit then went back inside. "He's got so much bigger and he's so much happier now. Did they find out what was wrong with him?" Ava asked.  "He definitely has now that he can eat and keep it down" I replied. "Chloe have you met him?" Ava asked with Chloe's response answering the question. Ava instantly felt bad as she saw Chloe run off with tears streaming down her face.

Bex ran after her leaving Ava and I with Noah. "I didn't mean to upset her" Ava said close to tears. "Hey, come here. I know you didn't mean it and so does Chloe. Just give her time to calm down" I replied with my arms out ready to give her a hug. Ava sobbed whilst I tried to comfort her like she'd done for me when we first met.

After Ava had calmed down, I started talking to her about what she wanted to do on our visits after Noah was out of hospital. "I was hoping we'd get some time just us as I wanted to ask you something with anyone else around." Ava came out with which panicked me a bit. "Go ahead" I replied trying not to sound panicked. "You know if the social say that I can live with you, Aljaz and Noah, I'll still be able to see Chloe and Ashley won't I?" Ava burst out. "Is it something you'd like to happen?" I asked knowing that I already knew the answer. Ava nodded. "If it's something you want then of course, I'm not exactly going to stop you seeing them." "Thanks Janette" Ava said just as Chloe and Bex came back. Ava and Chloe looked at each other then ran up to each other.
