A/N: I am so fucking sorry this is so short! I'm suffering writers block on this app at the moment and am trying to get past it. FranceCat1
Dreams chest rose, and declined again, his hand in the grass and his other holding someone else's.
He peered up at the sun through the tedious yellow of the leaves from this one tree, this one that cast numerous little circles of glare on the pasture, the flowers, and the dirt.
Speckling Dreams cape and making some areas of the gold on it brighter than others. His back was pressed against the breezy plantation docked into the dirt, his gaze kept lazily drifting over to his suitor, Cross and his closed eyes, a hand on Dreams chest and the another holding the smallers grip.
Dream himself felt really calm, not a care in the world he didn't think. Although it was hard sometimes to do things without Cross by his side due to his work, he still managed to make it all work out in the end.
He had the entire day planned, from the time Cross left to the time he came home again.
When Crossy came back home from a long and tiring day was especially Dreams favourite, because he got to sit down and eat with his husband, talk about their days, cuddle when they got the chance and maybe.. just maybe if the mood was right, something else other than that might happen. But that didn't happen often.
Their relationship wasn't one of burning passion and constant night in home alone, with only sexual attraction going on between them. It was one of pure admiration, cuddles and kisses, lazy days at home and feeding each other chocolate at night on a Saturday.
Their love... was special.
Everyone's love was special but nobody had a romance quite like Cross and Dream. They liked it like that, a love that allowed them to keep it passionate for years on end, not losing an ounce of it no matter what they did.
Any arguments, any time they got hurt, mistakes, slip ups, troubles, they pushed through a ton already with only each other by themselves. To be here now, Cross thought it as a privilege, Dream thought it horseshoe luck but neither of them would actually be here if that one incident hadn't happened.
That incident?
The one with Nightmare.
That day mid April when Nightmare tried to kill Cross. Just because he'd fallen for Dream and refused to do anything to put him in harms way. Cross put Dreams health first at that time, it resulted in nails like fucking claws being dug into his back with little to no mercy. No hesitation when he was hurt.
"Don't hesitate to hurt a traitor" Nightmare had said once, when they were still on decent terms. Just to think about it, Nightmares operation, his team was a sketchy bunch of lunatics hoping for luck to be on their side when it came to their loyalty.
Cross was loyal.
He always had been to Nightmare, but the one night he showed his feelings legitimately was the one he got punished for.
It wasn't Nightmares fault. He had every right to be angry, his right hand man directly disobeyed an order. What wasn't to be mad about?
But even then, he didn't have to flip out like that.
Dream shouldn't have had to slip in there and save him, he shouldn't have had to save Cross when he could do it himself.
Fuck.
Who knew Dream could be so powerful in a time of need, while Cross was so... weak when he was literally fighting for his life.
It made no sense, but strangely it did.
Sense was overrated anyway.
Dream was strong when Cross wasn't and that ran a two way street. Sometimes it was just best to lay back and let things go their own way.
"Crossy?" Dreams kind and caring voice pierced the veil of silence between the two of them, looking up at Cross as he opened an eye.
"Yeah Dreamy?" He replied quietly.
"I love you." Dream chirped simply.
"I love you more" The larger skeleton protested against him, poking his shoulder playfully.
"Impossible. I love you more."
"Okay okay you win, just don't expect for me to agree with you when you say you love me more than I love you."
