"Parker, who's Namhla?"
Logan groaned as Antonina barged into his office. It had not even been an hour since he last saw her, and she was already in his office, asking about Thuso's wife.
"Couldn't you wait for another hour or two before invading my space, lady? And what happened to knocking?" He asked in a mock annoyance voice, to which she rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Don't be so full of yourself." She took a seat across him. "And one other thing, I know a bit of Sotho, and I could have sworn I heard Mosetsana's kids call her aunt."
Logan laughed and shook his head, his eyes set on the screen in front of him. "I hope you didn't ask her if she was Namhla."
"No," Antonina dragged with a grin.
"But you almost did?" He shook his head and placed his papers aside before turning his attention to her. "Thuso is a polygamous man," he said.
Her eyes widened like saucers, and then she leaned forward and whispered, "how many?"
"He had three; his first wife divorced him, and then he married Mosetsana, followed by Namhla. Koketso and Hlompho are Namhla's kids," he explained.
"Well, then why is Mosetsana raising them, and who is Namhla?"
"Do you know Amandla Taunyane?" Logan asked.
"The owner of Endabeni Publications and Media Company?" Logan nodded. "Wait, that's Namhla?"
"The one and only, she separated from Thuso about four years ago, and in doing so, she had to give up her kids."
"But why?"
"Let's just say she fell down the stairs so many times in a single storey house." He laughed at the look on her face.
"You heard that?" She asked, her cheeks slightly red.
Of course he did, she had the habit of thinking out loud at times and was not aware of it, but he was not going to tell her that; it was quite entertaining listening to her thoughts.
"So, her brother, Shaka, got her out of the marriage, then her husband threatened to have her brother arrested for a crime he committed years ago," he said instead. "So, she had to leave her kids to save her brother."
"Why didn't she stay in the marriage instead?"
"And endure that guy's beatings every day? And besides, Thuso said he did not want her back."
"That's harsh."
"You think?" Logan asked, getting back to his work. "Now, I think we both have a lot of catching up to do since our trip," he dismissed her casually with a wide grin on his face.
She looked at him with a serious face. She knew he was trying to avoid the big elephant in the room, and he hoped she would do the same thing.
As if reading his thoughts, she sighed and stood up. "Be careful," she said with a weak smile.
"You too." He said, a mysterious glint in his eyes. Antonina nodded and then left. He sighed in predicament, he was a dead man. If what Shaka told him about Thuso's state is really true, then he was not getting away with his actions.
About six hours into the day, he was sure that his day was going well so far, he had not had any problems at all. As expected, he had to read through a lot of documents and sign off on a number of transactions.
The company was not doing so bad without him, except for the angry clients he had been ignoring since his engagement party.
Thankfully, Mrs Dos Santos had not paid him another visit as of yet. And on a positive note, he was not thinking about MJ. Well, at least not as much as he would like to. His mind drifted back to the day he saw her at Billings Corporations when he gave her back her watch.
That was the first time ever since her return, that he saw her appreciate something. The compassion in her eyes was unspoken of.
He did not get to wonder about her for too long though, because right when he was getting ready to go for his lunch, Lola barged into his office, seemingly sweaty and out of breath.
She clutched her knees, trying to gather her breath while pointing at the door. Logan wanted to ignore her, considering their last conversation, but knowing her history and somehow against his own wishes, realising maybe a part of him still cared about her; he quickly got up and rushed to her side.
"Lola, are you okay?" He helped her to the couch. She sat down and laid back, and then Logan got her a glass of water from the stand. "Are you okay?" He asked again.
She looked like she had been running despite her heart condition. "There's–" she started, but could not complete her sentence, she was struggling to breathe while holding her chest in agony.
"Lola? That's it, I'm taking you to the hospital!" He grabbed his jacket, wallet and car keys, but before he could leave, Natalia barged into the office.
"Logan, forget about Lola, I'll take care of her. There's been a shooting at La Café!" She said.
"What?" He gasped. His mind wandered to Antonina and their trip to London, and all the blood drained from his face as reality sank in. "What? Is Mrs Dos Santos okay?"
Natalia shook her head. "I don't know, nobody knows!" Logan did not wait to hear the rest, he stormed out of his office like his feet could not take him fast enough.
