"This better be good," Javier Mendoza said sternly as he strode into McEnroe Construction Company with Aaron Jr by his side as they headed for the elevator.
"I wouldn't have called you if it wasn't important," Aaron said begrudgingly.
Javier had still not recovered from his ambush, and on top of that, he still had to figure out how to bury twenty-five bodies unnoticed. This was exactly why he never recruited men with families or responsibilities, because if shit got real, nobody would notice.
This was what kept him out of prison for the longest time, but he was not so sure anymore, especially after the beautiful stranger. His blood boiled every time he thought of her, especially since his thoughts always drifted off to dangerous places. He could not stop thinking about her, and that alone bothered him.
He had been trying to locate her for days, but had no such luck to even track her shadow. She was like a ghost in the meadow. More like his sister, she had disappeared off the surface of the earth after selling him out, but he could not bring himself to care, he would pay her a visit later.
For now, his biggest worry was his new acquaintance. When Aaron called him, it was his last hope to find her, more especially after she had been so interested in finding out about McEnroe Construction.
They got off on the last floor and went to Aaron's office. "So, what are the new developments that required me to fly all the way from London?" He asked.
Aaron rolled his eyes. "I received a call from Jorge Billings earlier today," he said.
"What did that idiot want?"
Aaron grimaced. "To offer us a new deal."
Javier quickly sat up, sucking in a deep breath as he touched his wound by mistake. "What are you talking about?" He gritted.
"He's offering the 75% deal I demanded at our last meeting."
"What? That's delusional. Whatever changed his mind?"
"MJ Billings," Aaron said dreadfully.
Javier frowned. "What is it about that woman?" She asked angrily. He hated the sound of that name, everyone he knew treated her as if she was some god. It was as if she was intentionally stepping on his toes, because she was always a step ahead of him. "Turn it down."
"What? Do you have any idea how much this deal is worth? Javier, we are talking about billions of rands here!"
"I know that." He tilted his head to the side, assessing the boy with knowing eyes. Greed was a blind spot. "But remember, our mission is to ruin your father's legacy, not save it." Aaron opened and closed his mouth like a fish. "Call Jorge and turn down that deal."
"Fine," Aaron muttered. "Fine, I'll go and call him." He stormed out of the office.
Javier took out his phone and dialled his wife's numbers. 'My love?' She answered on the second ring.
"Buy yourself something nice, and buy a bouquet of flowers," he ordered. "We are going to your brother's for dinner tonight," he said, glancing at his watch.
He could not wait to see the look on Brianna's face when she sees him up and about. She was going to pay for this. Everyone involved was going to pay.
