"Are you going to stand there all day?" Logan asked as Antonina remained rooted at the main entrance to the mansion.
"I'm going to stand here until you take me back to my house," she said stubbornly, hugging herself as she looked around in discomfort.
Logan shifted his weight from one foot to the other, something at the back of his head telling him she was thinking about the night of the engagement party. He felt guilty and felt the need to apologise again, but could not find it in him; after all, it was not like she was also not keeping things from him. He reassured himself.
He rolled his eyes at her and scoffed. "Listen, woman. I–" he started towards her, but was interrupted by Thuso. Damn! He thought. He had almost forgotten about him!
"Boss? You are back," the big guy walked towards Logan in his signature black suit and T-shirt.
"Thuso," Logan greeted with a tight smile. He was not in the mood for any of his house staff or security team, with everything that happened before he left and in London, he was already having enough trouble with Antonina.
Logan raised a questioning eyebrow at him as he watched him shift uncomfortably, his usual scary face nowhere in sight. Logan could see that he wanted to say something, but the words flew out of the bodyguard's mouth before Logan could prepare himself, "I'm sorry for your loss."
Logan stiffened for a second, not missing the worried look in Antonina's eyes. He gave her a small smile, assuring her that he had everything under control. "Thank you, Thuso."
He thought the man would get the hint that he did not want to hear any more about his 'loss,' but Thuso had something else in mind. "I know you wanted to be a father so bad, I mean all the baby stuff you brought." Logan's face was turning more and more redder by the minute, and he balled his fists on the side as his breathing became harder. You and Carmen will have more children; you won't even remember this misfortune. Namhla and me–" He did not get to finish his sad story about how him and his second wife tried for a child.
Antonina quickly moved away from the door, entering farther into the house, but her feet could not move fast enough, because Logan flipped. "For fuck's sake, I said thank you! Just shut the fuck up!" He yelled and threw a punch that sent Thuso on his back, but that did not stop him. Logan got on top of the bodyguard and continuously punched him on the face, his knuckles bruising as blood sputtered out of the man's nose and mouth.
Antonina screamed and covered her mouth in horror. "Logan, stop, you are going to kill him!"
Logan did not listen to her. He knew the man was not going to die, he was stronger than him and yet, refused to fight back. And that infuriated Logan more, Thuso kicked his ass every morning in Kickboxing, why was he not fighting back now?
He growled in frustration and got away from him. "Don't even think about giving me a lecture right now, this is exactly why I didn't want to come back!" He warned as Antonina made a move to comfort him.
"Then why did you come back?" She asked defiantly, but before he could answer, the maids and some members of the security team came running in, freezing on their toes at the scene in front of them.
"Where are all the baby stuff?" Logan asked angrily, not moved by their frightened faces. When no one answered, his furious gaze zeroed on one of the younger maids, causing her to take a step back even though he was far from her.
"Th-they are in the nurse– nursery, Mr Parker," she stuttered, her eyes in a brink of tears.
Logan disappeared to the garage, and then returned seconds later with a big hammer in his hand.
"Logan." Antonina rushed after him as he dragged the hammer up the stairs. "Please take care of him!" She said to the maids and guards, referring to Thuso's limp figure at the centre of the sitting room. "Logan!" She shouted as she ran up the stairs, following him from a safe distance.
"Stay out of this." He warned.
He arrived on the second floor and entered the room that was meant for his non-existent son. He stopped at the door and looked around, his heart hardening at the sight.
The room was painted in powder blue with a white ceiling, and the furniture was white; from the bed, the closet, and the mini changing area. It also had a baby bathroom filled with baby toiletries.
It was blue and white, but all Logan saw was red as he teared the place down piece by piece, destroying furniture and tearing up clothes.
