Rex drifted off with Ahsoka in his arms as they waited for the sun to rise. When his eyes fluttered open again, she was gone. He panicked for a second before he found a piece of paper taped to his cane handle, which had suspiciously moved from the bathroom to the bed while he was asleep.

He glanced at the chrono to find it almost seven in the morning. He had overslept, which was an anomaly for any clones. He must've been as tired as Ahsoka. He picked up the paper and smiled at his Cyare's familiar handwriting, slanted to the right and just a tad on the sloppy side.

Good morning love. You were dead asleep when I woke up, so I decided to let you rest. Anakin and Fives left before the sun was even thinking of rising (eww, no thank you. Way too early) and left for the Resolute. He told us to act like responsible adults (like he's one to talk) and that he didn't want a grand padawan just yet. (Really skyguy?) Anyways, I'm out on one of the courtyards doing saber training.
Also, your two weeks with the cane are up, and you're due for a check in with Kix. Unfortunately, he's not here. I won't hound you if you take. It. Easy. I love you, please don't hurt yourself by being stubborn.

Rex smiled softly and stood slowly. He dressed in his black tactical gear. It's weight was comforting and familiar, even if it wasn't his usual blue and white kit. Now to find his fiance.

He felt for the familiar thread that connected them, and gave a little tug to see if he could determine where she was. He smiled as he felt the general direction of his Cyare. He was getting better at the whole force thing. He pushed a feeling of love and playful exasperation at her at choosing the farthest courtyard to practice. He didn't know if she got it, she was pretty far away.

After a long while of wandering in her general direction and a few wrong turns he found her. He stood for a moment to marvel at the huntress he was planning to marry. She had both blades out and extended to full length as she glided from form to form, rolling and twisting through her katas.

She smiled when she saw him and launched into a more complicated set, flipping backward to a low wall and slashing in dual plain cut before jumping high to stab downward and roll into a lunge. Rex noticed his mouth was hanging open and shut it with an audible click. Ahsoka finished and stood upright, extinguishing her blades.

"Morning Rexie." She said, standing on tiptoe to brush a kiss across his cheek. Rex smiled and sat on a mossy wall nearby.

"Oh, don't stop on my account. I could watch you practice forever." He smiled. Ahsoka wiped the accumulated sweat off her forehead and drank from a pouch of water sitting on a wall on the other side of the door. She was in a form fitting black tank top that almost matched her leggings, but Rex saw a pile of white where she had put her stollen shirt.

"Well, if your feeling up to it we could go through some forms with the practice sabers." She suggested. Rex held out his hands and stilled them the best he could without using the force.

"Steady as a stone." He said, even though he knew she could still see the slight trembling in his fingertips. Ahsoka sighed and shook her head, but she pulled out her practice saber and flicked the green blade on. Rex pulled his own heavy cylinder out and powered it on for the first time. A blue blade sprang to life.

Rex took a second to stare at it. He held a lightsaber in his hands. He, a clone, was learning to use a lightsaber. It was one thing to use wooden sticks or hold Ahsoka's saber during an emergency, but this was another. He stood and waved the saber through the air, hearing the hum of the saber intensify slightly with the movement.

Ahsoka giggled as she watched him play a little bit with the blade, feeling how it moved and reacted. She remembered that feeling of awe very well, the first time she had turned on a practice saber. Rex grinned at her, big and wide and the kind only she got to see. The kind that reminded her how young he really was.

She fell into a form one starting stance as he came up beside her. He mimicked her and fidgeted until he got it right. The blade trembled a bit because of his hands, but he got it into an almost flawless position nonetheless. He nodded at her to show that he was ready, and Ahsoka began to walk him through the forms as he fell into the familiar blocks and swings. Ahsoka moved in front of him and they worked through the sets.

Ahsoka smiled and sped up a bit. Rex struggled slightly to match her and his hands cramped a bit. Ahsoka noticed and they took a break, and Rex glanced at his commlink for the time. Almost nine.

"Doing alright love?" She asked as he rubbed out his hands the best he could. Rex grimaced.

"Hands giving me issues." He muttered. Ahsoka put her hands on his and kissed him on his slightly-sweaty brow.

"Good job. You made it almost an hour an a half." She congratulated him. Rex gave a thin smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. She passed him the water pouch and he took a grateful drink.

"Do you know what the rebel's next move is?" He asked, scrubbing at his eyes as once he regained controls of his hands. Ahsoka shrugged.

"Lux mentioned something about sending a message to the people, but other than that." She said, grabbing a towel from where she had left her water and shirt and wiping most of the sweat off. She tossed it to Rex when she was done, and he cleaned up. He slid his practice saber hilt into it's pocket.

"Well, let's go find out the plan. It's not a combat op, I take it?" He asked, steadying himself on the wall. Ahsoka glanced at him to make sure he was alright.

"... No, it's not a combat op." She sighed. "I suppose I can't talk you into staying here?" She asked, intertwining her fingers with his as they walked down the corridors.

"I'll be careful Cyare, I promise." He pressed a kiss on the crease of her montrals. Ahsoka shivered and pulled the white shirt that she had stollen from him back on.

"Ok." She sighed, letting go of his hand as they neared what had become the command center of the nest monastery. "But if you come back with so much as a paper cut I will lock you in your room for a week." She growled, stepping in front of him as he moved to key open the door.

"Ok. Ok. No need to threaten. I'm a big clone, I won't get myself killed." He promised. Ahsoka huffed, but she moved out of the way and let him open the door.

"You better not." She growled under her breath as she followed him in.
