Ahsoka groaned as her eyes fluttered open, shutting them almost instantly against the bright light. Her shoulder ached. A familiar hand brushed gently against her head, stroking the ridges and points of her montrals. She tipped her head into Rex's hand slightly. He chuckled softly.

"You awake?" He asked softly. Ahsoka gave a non committal groan.

"'S bright." She slurred.

"The lights are off, Cyare." He laughed. Ahsoka whined.

"Still too bright." She complained. She reached for him mentally and recoiled with a hiss. "You burned yourself." She growled at him.

"Would you have rather me let you hit the ground?"

Ahsoka was silent after that, cracking her eyelids open to squint at him. His face was slightly blurry at first but her eyes focused to their normal hunter precision after a second. She pouted.

"You cut your hair." Rex chuckled and leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. Ahsoka sighed contentedly and let her eyes drift shut again. "Where am I?"

"The Resolute. In the medbay."

"How long have I been asleep?"

"Not very long. A day or so."

Ahsoka's eyes snapped open. "Steela... the rebels..."

"They're ok." Rex promised, putting a hand on her good shoulder. She struggled up to a sitting position, wincing as her bandages shifted against her wound. She glanced at her injured shoulder and laughed. Rex quirked an eyebrow.

"What's so funny?"

Ahsoka turned slightly to face him and tapped his chest, still giggling. "We match. Blaster scar for blaster scar." Rex rolled his eyes and laughed a little too.

The door slid open and Kix bustled in. "Oh no you don't. Back down, Commander. And you..." He shook a finger at Rex, "are bothering my patient. What are you even doing out of bed with the fever you had? I don't want the Commander getting ill as well." He growled.

Ahsoka glared at him. "He's not sick, Kix. He can't give me anything he doesn't have."

Kix narrowed his eyes at her. "Barely able to stand with a hundred and three degree fever is not sick?" He asked incredulously.

"Normally no, but he wasn't sick." She insisted. Kix shut and locked the door to the room before leaning on the guardrails to her bed.

"Explain. And not just about this, about everything. Ahsoka's rapid healing, Rex's mysterious illnesses, asking for bloodwork for 'temple studies', I'm not an idiot. There's something you're not telling me." He looked anxiously between the two of them. Ahsoka looked up at her fiance, searching his face. She probed at the bond slightly, trying to determine if she could do anything to help him. She pushed a little at the force around his mind, strengthening his shields and repairing some of the damage she could.

Rex's posture relaxed slightly.

Thank you.

Should we tell him?

He's not really giving us a choice.

Rex sighed and leaned on the guardrail. Ahsoka put a hand on his arm to reassure him as he tried to get his words together. She looked up at Kix.

"You might want to grab a chair and get comfortable. This is a long story." She smiled apologetically and leaned back herself. Kix raised an eyebrow, but left the room to get one. Ahsoka tugged at her fiance's sleeve, and he looked up at her with a sigh, knowing what she wanted.

"Fine." He sighed, scooping her up gently and settled her against his chest. She sighed contentedly and shifting so her bandages weren't getting in the way. He traced small circles on her upper arms. Kix walked in with a chair in tow. He halted at the sight of the couple.

"Really?" He sighed, putting the chair on the floor. Rex gave him a deadpan look.

"Do you want the story or not?"

Kix pinched his brow. "Why is it me that has to put up with this?"

Ahsoka squeezed Rex's hand briefly. Rex opened his mouth and let his story tumble out. Kix'a face grew paler and paler with disbelief. Once Rex finished, the other clone sat back.

"I... you..." His jaw worked as he tried to comprehend what he had just heard.

"Do you believe me?" Rex asked, semi anxiously. Kix snorted.

"Of course I believe you. You're a terrible liar." He said casually. "I just... you can move things. With your mind. You have a lightsaber crystal. And you are still planning to get married in about a week despite common sense saying otherwise."

Rex sighed. "Yes. Well, not currently. I burnt myself when I caught Ahsoka."

Kix raised an eyebrow. "Burnt?"

Ahsoka groaned into Rex's chest. "When you overextend yourself mentally by reaching too far into the force." Her voice was slightly muffled by his shirt.

Kix nodded and sat back. "Oh. Ok. So I guess a demonstration is out of the question."

"Well-"

Ahsoka slapped a hand over his mouth. "Yes. Despite the fact that he feels better because I strengthened his shields, he will not be using the force for at least a week." She glared at him as Rex gave a muffled protest through her hand. "A. Week." She growled, then pulled her hand away suddenly. "Did you just lick me?"

"Yes." Rex said petulantly.

"Please, wait until I leave." Kix said exasperatedly.

"Fine." They said at the same time.

"Ok. Is there anything else I need to know? You're not secretly planning the separatists? Nobody has developed a terminal illness? Ahsoka's not-"

"For the last time. I. Am. Not. Pregnant." She growled. Kix raised his hands.

"I was going to say 'an evil clone of herself, but that's also good to know." Kix said defensively. "Ok. I'll uh, get out of you hair. And get Rex some light reading on Togruta biology."

Rex frowned.  "Why would I need to read? Ahsoka's always let me ask questions."

Kix snickered. "Not these questions. She's not human. Means a lot in other areas of life than just the hospital."

Rex still didn't understand, but Ahsoka was blushing so hard her markings were pink, so he decided to drop the subject and go with it. What could there be that he didn't already know?
