Rex all but ran to the room and sat the tray on the desk counter in the refresher Ahsoka stirred when he put a hand on her shoulder.

"Thought you were gonna lemme sleep." She groaned, sitting up. Rex grabbed his weapons and commlink that he had left in the room.

"Sorry Cyare. Change of plans." He said. "I'll make it up to you, but the rebels need us." He handed her her light sabers and an actual shirt instead of his. Ahsoka sat up and took them.

"What happened." She asked. Rex turned his back as she changed her shirt.

"The old king, the true king according to Saw, is scheduled for execution tomorrow at noon for leading the rebels. Even though Steela announced that she was the rebel leader on the hologram." Rex supplied. "You done?" He asked.

"Yeah, you can look." He heard the smile in Ahsoka's voice before he saw it on her face. She had a form fitting tank top and matching leggings on and her lightsabers hung at her waist. "Do they have any plan yet?"

"Not that I know of. We're supposed to report to the command center immediately." Rex relayed. Ahsoka nodded and followed him out the door.

They kept a fast and pace down the hallway, weaving though the corridors. Finally, they got to the door of the command center.

"I really an sorry to wake you." Rex muttered as the door slid open and they hurried in. Lux and Steela, who had been standing rather close, took a step back. Steela cleared her throat.

"Good point, Bonteri." She fumbled. Rex shared a look with Ahsoka.

Is that what we do all the time?

He asked, pushing the connection between them wide open. Ahsoka raised an eyebrow at him, then frowned as he nodded at Lux and Steela.

Oh Force I hope not.

Rex's lips twitched upwards as he fought down a chuckle. Through a massive amount of willpower he focused on the holomap. Saw was the last to arrive.

"Ok. We need to figure something out and fast." He said, panting slightly and leaning against the walls.

"Says the one who was late." Steela didn't even look up from the holomap. Lux scrubbed at his eyes tiredly.

"The execution takes place tomorrow, here at the square." He said, manipulating the map. Steela was frowning off into space.

"Ok, what about the compound where the King is held?" Saw asked. Steela shook her head sadly.

"We lack the resources or manpower to break him out of the max security prison, brother. I know what you want to do. It won't work." She locked eyes with him.

"You don't know that, little sis." He said, stressing the little. Steela arched a brow.

"I was elected leader for a reason. I'm pretty sure I do." She snarled at him.

"Enough. Saw, you are out of line." Rex growled, using the voice he reserved for disobedient shinies and Fives. Saw rounded on him.

"Out of line? I am trying to keep this rebellion alive, Captain." Saw said incredulously.

"That's Steela and the people's job. Not yours. I repeat, you are out of line. Stand. Down." Rex took a step forward and stared down at him, even though they were a about the same hight.

"Yes sir." Saw saluted mockingly, before storming out of the room. Steela slumped slightly, looming decades older than she actually was.

"My apologies for my brother's actions, Captain Rex." She said softly, closing her eyes  and allowing herself a rare moment of vulnerability before her eyes snapped open.

"We need a plan. Now." She enlarged the map with a flick of her hand. "Ahsoka, I know you have limits on the action you can take. I will ask for clarification on that subject with my next report." She met the togruta's eyes. Ahsoka nodded. "Until then, I would like both you and your Captain blending in the crowd. I will be on this roof here, and Lux..." She trailed off. Her position, a high residential building towering over the square, had an electrical cable running from rooftop to the ground almost on top of where the execution would take place.

"I'll lead a small force of rebels from this building here. Will you have your strike team with you?" Lux asked, tapping the map to highlight his position in red.

"Ahsoka?" Rex asked, looking to her. She closed her eyes.

"Yes, Rex, you may aid me in covering my position as long as you don't be stupid." Ahsoka opened her eyes again and pierced him with pleading eyes.

Please, please don't be stupid. You are an adult clone, but just...

Rex's mouth lifted into a small smile.

I'll be careful, Cyare. Your version of careful, at least.

Ahsoka rolled her eyes. "We will blend in with the crowd and only step in when and if we deem necessary." She gave her assent to the plan. Steela nodded at her.

"I will contact the jedi council and Skywalker. In the meantime, you three are dismissed. Rest  up, it's gonna be another early start tomorrow." She met each of their eyes in turn. "Dismissed."

Rex saluted her before walking to the door. He smiled as he saw Ahsoka copy him. Steela also smiled at it, but it was strained. Lux put a hand on her arm and muttered something that Rex didn't catch.

Ahsoka was pushing off the walls and staggering slightly when they were half way back to the barracks. She bumped into Rex and muttered an apology. Rex smiled wanly at her.

"Ahsoka, let me carry you?" He asked, putting a hand on her shoulder. He didn't wait for an answer. Ahsoka glared at him at first as he picked her up bridal style, but she gave a small sigh and snuggling into his chest. Rex fought down a grin as he opened the door to their rooms. He set Ahsoka down gently and tucked the blanket around her. He made to stand up again, but Ahsoka caught his wrist, blue eyes opened wide in contrast to her sleepy demeanor moments earlier.

"Stay with me? Please? I tried to sleep without you earlier and couldn't." She whispered. Rex nodded and picked her up again, settling her against him this time and pulling a blanket over the both of them. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, and trailed down the white markings gently until his lips met hers, making her giggle a bit before she promptly passed out.
