AZIEL POVA punch from kuya Adriel landed on my face as soon as I opened the door of my apartment. The impact was so intense I wasn't able to recover right away. I remained lying on the floor, hands on my jaw. But then he forced me to stand.
"Kuya..."
"What the fvck do you think you're doing, Aziel?"
"I didn't mean to, kuya."
"You didn't mean to?" Another punch landed on my face. I can already taste blood coming from my lips. "You think that woman didn't notice what you did?!"
"I'm s-sorry..."
"I'm sorry?! Ano pang magagawa ng sorry mo!" He pinned me on the wall. "I reminded you over and over again to be very careful in every move. Hindi basta-bastang babae si Yesha. She picks up anything easily. She fits pieces together effortslessly, plans and moves not just a step ahead but a hundred steps. Malayo ang nararating ng bawat impormasyong nakukuha niya. Kahit pa gaano kaliit 'yan, kaya ka na niyang pabagsakin." And again he gave me a hard blow on the face and several on my stomach.
After he was done, I wasn't able to stand anymore. Basta na lang akong bumagsak sa sahig.
"Don't go to school tomorrow. Huwag mo ring gamutin ang mga sugat mo. We have to reverse her impression on you."
"Y-yes...kuya." I struggled even just to utter two words.
"I'm warning you, Aziel. If this happens again, mas malala pa diyan ang gagawin ko sa 'yo. I don't care if you're my younger brother, I will punish you the way I punish everyone else."
I nodded slowly.
The sun was already high when I opened my eyes. I cringed as I felt my whole body throb. I'm still on the floor. Kuya is really not someone who you should mess with. I crawled to my bed and struggled to climb.
I breathe heavily and even that was a struggle. The chest pain was excruciating.
I reached for my phone to see what time it is but was surprised at the 13 messages. I wondered who they were from. I never got these much messages before.
Si Kuya lang nag madalas mag-text sa akin and he's not the type to bombard me with so many messages.
I opened it and was stunned that they were all from one person.
Yesha.
She knows my number?
I mentally spank myself. Of course, it's easy for her to find out.
I browsed through the messages and opened the first one.
It was sent at 7:20am. She was asking why I'm late. Said it was unusual for me.
Second was sent at 7:30am. She figured I wasn't late but rather absent. She said it's not my personality to be late so she concluded I will not be in today.
We've only known each other for less than two weeks pero alam na niya 'yon. Was she observing me too? But that's impossible. She doesn't know me. Maybe she really is just observant.
The third message was rant about how hard the new lesson was. And how sir Dela Cruz called her to recite again. Bakit daw paborito siya nitong pinagre-recite.
The message was sent at 8:20. She texted during class hours. Napailing na lang ako.
The next messages were asking if I'm okay. And that she hopes I'm fine. And if I need anything, just tell her. She also asked if I'll be attending our afternoon classes. And if not, she will lend me her notes and review me.
