september second- the first day of classes

I woke up to the sound of birds and rain. I looked around and saw all three of my roommates were already awake. I glanced at the clock on the wall and saw it read 7:37.

"Why didn't you guys wake me up yet," I grumbled angrily as I jumped out of bed and went to get dressed.

"We were planning on giving you five more minutes," replied Fawn dryly.

"But we always go down to breakfast at 8," I shot back, "and since we have to meet Professor Sprout in the common room at 7:55, that only would have given me 10 minutes to get ready!"

"If we are five minutes later than usual to breakfast it won't be the end of the world, Addie," answered Ainsley.

I rolled my eyes at her and continued to get ready. Miraculously, I got ready for my day rather quickly and met Prof. Sprout in the common room promptly at 7:55.

She had already started her speech when I arrived. "I hope I will be seeing some of our lovely Hufflepuffs entering into the Triwizard Tournament this year. It would be lovely to show some Hufflepuff pride," she beamed. "Okay, here is the part you have all been waiting for... your schedules!"

She started to call out the last names of students. "Diggory," she exclaimed.

Cedric grabbed his schedule from her and came over towards me while inspecting it. "You taking advanced divination and astronomy again this year, Corbyn?" he questioned.

"God I hope so," I answered. "I couldn't imagine being stuck with the idiots in my year again. I just hope we them together this year."

Almost like it was on cue, Prof. Sprout called my last name. I grabbed my schedule and walked back towards my friends, who all already had gotten theirs.

"Ready for breakfast?" I asked.

They nodded and we walked down to the Great Hall. It was a tradition for us to not compare our schedules and see what classes we had together until we got down to breakfast. We thought it didn't make sense to have to ask everyone again down in the Great Hall once we could mingle with the other houses.

Once we got into the Great Hall, we found our seats at our table. We sat exactly like we did last night at the Welcome Feast. I guess that would be our new routine. We all ate and then immediately started comparing schedules.

Neville, Hermione, and Luna ended up joining us to compare schedules. Neville was one of my best guy friends. He was so sweet and severely underrated among his housemates. We both loved herbology, which is where we became friends last year. Although we didn't see each other often, it was nice to have a friendly face in a different house. Hermione and I became friends last year too. We took a lot of the same classes and always ended up in the library studying at the same time. It was nice to have a study buddy. Luna and I became friends in Advanced Divination last year. We were the only two third-years to be asked to join the older students. We weren't that close in classes but she would always write during the holiday and send me a copy of the Quibbler.

I ended up having Charms with Fawn and Matt, Advanced Astronomy and Divination with Cedric, Defence Against the Dark Arts with Fawn and Ainsley, Herbology with Ainsley, Matt, and Neville, History of Magic with Fawn, Transfiguration with Erin and Ainsley, and Potions with Ainsley and Matt.

After comparing schedules, Cedric decided to tell our friends that he was planning on entering the Tournament. Matt started to joke about how it would be funny if Cedric was eaten by a dragon, which made our whole group erupt into wickedly loud laughter.
