october fourth- plans and people

~ Addison ~

The only part of this past week that I had liked was getting to spend time with Draco. I especially loved waking up next to him.

He hadn't gone to classes since I had been hurt.

After he had calmed me down with Theo's vial of Draught of Peace, Fawn returned. I was still crying and half asleep when she arrived, but I did manage to hear parts of their conversation. Draco didn't bother sneaking out from our room to talk to her elsewhere, presumably because he thought that I was fully asleep. I doubted he would have stayed if he knew that I could hear his every word.

"I talked to Professor Sprout today after we left you," Fawn admitted, her voice small and considerate, a contradiction to the usual bossy and uncaring side that came out around my Slytherin.

"What about?" Draco inquired, tightening his hold on me by a minuscule scale.

"Well, given what happened today, I thought it would be smart to ask her if you could be excused from your classes all next week."

There was a moment of silence in which I could feel Draco's jaw clench as his anger seethed out of him.

"You did what?"

"I was taking matters into my own hands because I needed to know if it would even be an option before presenting it to you," she bloviated.

"You absolute pillock, do you realize what you've done?" my Slytherin agonized in a whisper-shout. "Do you realize how royally you screwed up?"

"You're not in trouble for using the Room, if that's what you're getting at," Fawn retorted. "Sprout actually thinks it is a great idea, given her attachment to you."

"So what, you just asked her if I could skip for a week?"

"That would be it."

"Why wouldn't you ask me first? This is my life that you're tampering with."

She sighed audibly before answering. "Honestly, I didn't think she would say yes. Professor Sprout is a wonderful woman and she's an amazingly sweet Head of House, but she doesn't like you. Whenever you two would sit together in her class or walk around school together, she would frown at you, which isn't something she frequently does. But I knew we couldn't leave her alone up here for the week. You and I would probably end up switching off so that we could go to half of our classes, but after earlier, I knew that if I stayed with her and something happened like that, I wouldn't be able to help her. I don't know-"

"All you have to do is give her some Calming Draught or Draught of Peace and she calms down-"

"But you already know that," she faltered. "I don't know how to help her. I don't know if there are certain things that can set her off or what her daily schedule is or anything. You know those things, and she seems to be immensely more comfortable around you than around anyone else. So," she said, clearing her throat as she began to conclude her explanation, "you don't have to go to classes next week. Sprout has already talked to Slughorn and the other Heads to let them know what is happening, without all of the details as to where you will be. I just wanted you to know, so I'll be going now."

I heard her footsteps moving away from us before Draco stopped her with his voice.

"I was always planning on staying here with her for the week, Stevens," he murmured, his fingers brushing back a lock of my hair.
