I never much liked blood.
I liked it even less when it was coming from someone I cared about.
One thing I never knew, though, was how much blood a person had in their body. Or how fast it could all be drained.
He was lying there on the ground, his blood spilling out of him. Practically free-flowing.
And I was paralysed. My mind was blank, save for one thought:
I didn't know a person had that much blood in their body.
Within moments, I heard his groans. My immobilisation lifted as my voice croaked out.
"Draco?"
He didn't answer me, which frightened me even more.
"Draco?" I asked more intensely, finally crossing over towards him and dropping to my knees, pulling out my wand to attempt a healing charm. His eyes were already glassy, which wasn't a good sign.
I turned over my shoulder to find Harry just standing there.
"Go get help, Harry!" I looked back at Draco, who's hand had found its way into my own. "It's okay," I whispered, sweeping his hair from his eyes in an attempt to stay calm. "You'll be alright, you hear me?" I glanced back over my shoulder to see if Harry had gone for help. He hadn't. "Harry, go!"
He didn't move. His eyes were fixated on the broken blond boy on the ground in front of me.
I turned back to him, my eyes scanning his figure. His blood was leeching out faster than my brain could comprehend, seeping into my skirt and my sleeves.
"I know you used that one spell on my hand, but I don't remember it," I whimpered, caressing his cheek. "What is it, Draco? Tell me and I can try to fix you. I'll try. I just don't remember it."
His eyelids started to flutter close ever so slightly.
"No!" I cried, prompting his eyes to flutter back open. "Listen to me, Draco. You have to stay awake. You have to stay awake, alright? Someone will be here soon. Keep your eyes open."
They started to close again.
"Look at me! Draco, look at me!" I turned over my shoulder one last time to Harry. My voice bellowed as it echoed through the walls of the lavatory. It was breaking in every possible way as it wracked its way up and out of my throat. "Harry! Please! He's dying!"
In an instant, my mind filled with memories of him finding me after my first detention with Umbridge when my hand was mauled.
"Now let me fix your hand," he said with a smirk, looking down at my bloody extremity once again.
"Okay," I said quietly.
He pulled out his wand and held it up to my hand. "Can you keep your wand up so I can see what I'm doing?" he asked. I nodded and brought my wand up so my hand was fully illuminated. "Addison," he said, meeting my eyes again, "this is going to hurt like hell."
"It's okay, just do it. I can take it."
He looked like he might be sick. "Vulnera Sanentur."
