december twenty-first- going back to london

The Christmas holiday was finally here, and I was spending it with Draco. He had written to his parents and told them he was staying at school over the holiday, which I guess they expected. Theo had agreed to cover for him if his parents wrote or anything. I guess Theo didn't want to go home for Christmas either.

It was all working out.

We planned to meet each other on the platform. Draco had actually agreed to sit with me in our compartment. It wouldn't be as crowded as usual because not everyone was going home, so it would be okay. Fred and George had been brought home by Dumbledore a few days ago after they found out their father had been attacked. He was okay now, which was relieving. Justin and Ernie were staying at school for the holiday. Matt and Hannah were both going home, but they wanted to sit with some of Hannah's other friends in a different compartment. That left Fawn, Ainsley, Draco, and me.

That will be interesting.

I had packed my weekend bag with the things I needed to take home. I didn't need to bring much because I still had things back in my room.

I grabbed my bag and followed Fawn down to the common room. Ainsley was up super late last night crying because she couldn't see Fred for the holiday, so she was still packing.

"He's going to sit with us on the train?" Fawn asked, her voice tinged with disgust.

"I mean, we can sit somewhere else if you don't want us to sit with you," I said quietly.

"No I want to sit with you," she said begrudgingly.

"It's really not a problem, Fawn."

"Why is he sitting with us, again?"

"Well I asked if he wanted to, considering he is coming home with me," I said, stating the obvious.

"Does that mean he will be at the New Years' Eve party?" she asked sadly. Fawn and her parents always came to our New Years party.

"Yes that means he will be at the party," I said with a chuckle.

She groaned loudly as Ainsley made her way out into the common room, her bag slung across her shoulders.

"What's so disappointing?" Ainsley asked in response to Fawn's groan.

"The Slytherin will be joining us on the train," Fawn said dryly.

"I already said that we don't have to sit in 17. We can find somewhere else to sit," I said, starting to get annoyed.

"No but I want to sit with you," Ainsley complained. "Plus, I guess it's fine... but the minute he says something offensive he's out."

"He won't say anything offensive, he's not like that anymore," I shot back.

"I'll believe that when I see it," Fawn muttered.

"Come on," I said looking at the clock on the wall. "We're going to be late."

We grabbed our bags and walked through the castle until we reached the carriages. We hopped in and rode down to the platform. As we approached, I could see Draco waiting with his extendable bag. A quick pang of guilt coursed through me, seeing him waiting for me. How long was he waiting? He probably felt out of place considering he wasn't with any of his usually Slytherin acquaintances.

We disembarked from the carriage and I quickly started to make my way over to him.

"I'll meet you guys in the compartment!" I called back to my friends.
