~ Draco's POV ~

I walked swiftly through the corridors, trying the places I knew she crossed through most often. It wasn't long before I came across her.

She smiled brightly and walked over towards me with a skip in her step.

Fuck.

"Hey, you! I was just coming to find you," she said giddily, grabbing my tie to pull my lips down to meet hers. They were so soft, so warm. I wanted to kiss them forever.

No. Draco, snap out of it.

She pulled away before I had the chance to. "So," she started, a grin building on her lips, "I was thinking we could sneak into the kitchens tonight and I could bake some samples of cake so I can figure out what to make you for your birthday. What do you think?" I just looked at her. "Are you alright?" I didn't answer. "What's wrong, Draco?"

She placed her hand on my cheek. I leaned into it momentarily before snapping my head away from it, causing it to drop to her side.

"Don't do this," she said, her voice edged with concern. "Talk to me."

"I don't want to do that anymore," I muttered. "I don't want to talk to you anymore."

She looked up at me in confusion. "What?" I met her eyes cautiously, making sure mine were tightly locked as to not let her see inside, to not let her see the torment. "Oh, I get it. Where's Blaise, hm?" She started to look around the corridor for him.

"Blaise isn't here."

"Theo, then. Did they dare you? I could see them doing that. It does seem very Slytherin-like. 'Truth or dare?' 'Dare.' 'Hey mate, go up to your girlfriend and tell her you don't want to talk to her anymore.' Merlin, you Slytherins do like to play games."

"It's not a dare."

She turned her head back to me, this time her eyes glazed with worry and confusion.

"What?"

"I don't want to talk to you anymore. Or see you." I paused, trying to compose myself. "I'm ending this, whatever this is."

She looked at me for a moment, her mouth hanging open ever so slightly.

"What?" she asked even quieter.

"You heard me."

"Who is making you do this?"

Who isn't?

"Nobody. I just don't want to see you anymore."

"You're just joking," she said, placing a hand on my arm desperately. "The Draco I know wouldn't do that."

"Well, then you don't know the real me."

"Bullshit," she said.

"You really think I would ever want to be with you?" The words physically hurt me as they came out of my mouth. "That I, Draco Malfoy, would ever want to be with a lowly Hufflepuff? You're incredibly naïve if you actually believed that for one second."

"You're lying."

"No, I'm not," I huffed, shrugging her arm off of my shoulder.

"You certainly didn't act like that last night! You were more than excited to see me-"

"That's just sex. It has absolutely no meaning-"

"Bullshit. If you just wanted sex from me you would've tried harder during fourth year."
